NAGAR EDITION February 15-21, 2015 CCTV footage leads to arrest of bus conductor who stole in bank Mathiyazhagan, an MTC bus conductor, who stole a woman s purse containing Rs. 26,000 in a bank in T. Nagar last week was arrested on Feb. 10. When the woman was busy filling up a form at the bank, Mathiyazhagan, who was standing next to her, unzipped her handbag, stole the cash, immediately deposited it in his account and left the bank. When Vijayalakshmi found that the money was missing, she filed a case with the police. When police checked the CCTV footage at the bank, they found the man pocketing the curren-cy notes. From the time recor-ded in the CCTV footage, police got the details of the transac-tion and traced Mathiyazha-gan. Fire at night in cell phone showroom A fire broke out at a cell phone showroom in K.K. Nagar during nighttime on Feb. 9. Alerted by nearby residents, firemen rushed to the spot to put out the fire. Several phones and other accessories were damaged in the fire. FREE
