3 RESPONSE OF THE PEOPLE *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (8:30) Lily Przybylinski (11:00) Ava Claire Williams 2015 CONFIRMATION CLASS STATEMENT OF FAITH We believe God exists in three forms: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe the Father created the earth and everything else there is. The Father also created all of us, male and female, in God s own image and knew us before we were born. We believe the Son willingly died for our sins so we could be forgiven. He also came back from the dead and rose into Heaven. Jesus will return to Earth again. We believe the Holy Spirit is like the wind and the waves: we can see evidence of the Holy Spirit through other people. We believe the church is the home for all types of people from all types of places. We believe that after we die, God has an amazing place in store for us. There are no problems, mistakes, or sadness in Heaven. We believe the Bible is the written Word of God. It is a combination of many genres, but it all represents eternal truths. We can use it as a manual or survival guide for how to live, and God wants us to share his Word with others. We believe God teaches us through the Bible, but he also teaches us through other people and other situations. God even teaches us through the problems we encounter. God continually advises us in choices we should make and how we should treat others. We believe God listens to us and answers our prayers, though not always as quickly as we would like or in the way we would like. God knows what is best for us and has a plan for us, and we can do all things through the strength we have in Jesus. We believe we serve a God of second chances, one whose love is unconditional. God knows all of the mistakes we have made and those we will make, but forgives us anyway. There is nothing we can do that will make God stop loving us. We believe God does not judge us by the clothes we wear, the schools we attend, the money we make, or any other worldly measure, but rather by the content of our character. Regardless of who else may be against us, we know God is for us, and the only opinion that truly matters is God s. As the everlasting foundation of our life, we believe God knows all things and is in all things. God wants us to be kind and compassionate to others. As we open our minds to God, our eyes will be open more and more so we can see the world through God s eyes.

4 OFFERTORY (8:30) arr. Alice Parker Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal Hark, I hear the harps eternal ringing on the farther shore, as I near those swollen waters, with their deep and solemn roar. Hallelujah, praise the Lamb, hallelujah, glory to the great I AM. And my soul, though stained with sorrow, fading as the light of day, passes swiftly o er those waters to the city far away. Souls have crossed before me, saintly, to that land of perfect rest; and I hear them singing faintly in the mansions of the blest. (11:00) Laudate Dominum omnes gentes W.A. Mozart (Psalm 117) (from Vesperae Solennes De Confessore K.339) Laudate Dominum omnes gentes; O praise the Lord, all ye nations; Laudate eum omnes populi. praise Him, all ye people. Quoniam confirmata est super nos For His merciful kindness misericordia ejus, is great toward us, et veritas Domini manet in and the truth of the Lord eternum. endureth for ever. Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father et Filio et Spiritui Sancto, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, sicut erat in principio, as it was in the beginning, is now, et nunc, et semper and ever shall be, et in saecula saeculorum. PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING SENDING FORTH *HYMN OF COMMITMENT Christ is Made the Sure Foundation REGENT SQUARE Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, chosen of the Lord and precious, binding all the church in one; holy Zion s help forever, and our confidence alone. To this temple, where we call You, come, O Lord of hosts, and stay; come, with all Your lovingkindness; hear Your people as we pray, and Your fullest benediction shed within these walls today. Here bestow on all Your servants what they seek from You to gain; what they gain from You, forever with the blessed to retain; and hereafter in Your glory evermore with You to reign. Laud and honor to the Father, laud and honor to the Son, laud and honor to the Spirit, ever three and ever one: one in might and one in glory while unending ages run! *CHARGE AND BENEDICTION *CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE 547 AR HYD Y NOS Go, My Children, with My Blessing Go, my children, with my blessing, never alone.
