2 PASTOR S PAR- PASTOR S PARAGRAPH AGRAPH You may have heard the saying, You cannot teach an old dog new tricks! Well, we are going to find out very soon, because this old dog is going to try to learn some new tricks! After preaching through books of the Bible verse by verse for my whole ministry, I am going to take a new approach starting this summer. I believe that God is moving me to a series based form of expository preaching. I will still be preaching verse by verse each Sunday, but the scripture passage will be based on what we are trying to cover in the series. I have been praying and studying about the approach that God wants me to take with this new method. The staff will be involved in helping me as we plan out each series that the Lord leads us to. In fact all of us went last week and sat under the teaching of a good friend who preaches this way all the time and was willing to spend a day with us sharing from his experience. I am very excited about what lies ahead for us on Sunday Mornings. Also this Summer, we will have SSSN starting in June. It stands for Super Summer Sunday Nights. We will be showing Christian films, inviting Gospel Groups in, and once a month, just getting together on Sunday night to fellowship around the table with a pot luck meal. Watch for the schedule of events as we get closer! It is going to be a great summer. I know many will be gone for vacation at some time or another, but make sure you don t miss when you are in town. 3 PASTOR S GRAPH ASSOCIATE PASTOR PARA- In Matthew 28 we find the Great Commission. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 [a] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [b] always, even to the end of the age. This charge was important enough that in some form it was repeated in the other Gospels and Acts. Throughout the scriptures we are challenged to encourage others to become followers of Christ.. We age challenged to Go and as a result we will see Growth in the Kingdom of God. Why should we do this? First, I would suggest Christ Commands us to, Matthew 28:18-20 as an example. Secondly, we find the Apostles modeling spreading the Gospel wherever they went, even in the face of opposition they shared Jesus. Thirdly, the New Testament Church has continued what the Apostles and the other disciples began.. From the death and resurrection of Christ the followers of Christ have continued to spread the Word of God that leads to salvation based upon Jesus and His sacrifice for us. I would encourage last, that we need to continue Going and sharing Christ wherever we Go. The Lost are all around us and if they die without Christ according to the scriptures will spend an eternity in Hell. We should only want the best for all of mankind. That is, to have eternal life! We know the only way to the Father is through the Son. We are give the responsibly to share that fact! I Love You All! To respond to this need, SEMO Food Bank provides Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). CSFP is designed to meet the nutritional needs of seniors, supplementing diets with a monthly box of nutritious USDA commodities. CSFP food box includes items such as canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, beans, canned meat, cereal, milk, cheese, rice and pasta. Each package contains approximately 32 pounds of food, or 27 meals. CSFP prevents vulnerable seniors from having to choose between food and other basic needs. CSFP serves over 4,800 low income Southeast Missouri seniors each month. Miner Baptist helps the SEMO Food Bank out by hosting a Senior Box Handout Day each month. Normally the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm in the Concourse. We have a couple of men and women that help us hand out food boxes and fill out paper work. If you know someone who might qualify, have them call the church office. If you would like to volunteer, watch the bulletin for the date and time.
