Leo Council is one of the oldest Councils in the state, having been founded in October The Council includes members from several parishes in the Illinois Quad-City area: Christ the King in Moline, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Silvis, Sacred Heart in Moline, St. Anne s in East Moline, St. John s in Rapid City, St. Maria Goretti in Coal Valley, St. Mary s in East Moline, St. Mary s in Hampton, St. Mary s in Moline, and St. Patrick s in Colona. The exact date the Auxiliary was founded is not on record but it has been in existence for approximately 30 years. Our meetings have typically been held at the same time and at the same location as the monthly men s Council meeting. Some social events have also been enjoyed by our members at varied times and locations. For many years our Auxiliary has generously contributed to a number of deserving and worthwhile causes including among them: Christmas food baskets/gift cards for needy families, disaster relief drives, First Day Fund, Humility of Mary shelter, Kids Against Hunger, local food banks, Marine Moms of the Quad-Cities, Seminarians, and Women s Choice Center. Many of our members also have consistently donated their time and effort to collect for the Knights annual Tootsie Roll Drive. The spiritual life of our members as well as the help and support we have brought to so many have remained the heart and soul of our Auxiliary. Donna Dobbelare, Past President #1704 NEWTON The Knights of Columbus, Newton Council #1704 recently installed 14 new officers for the Ladies Auxiliary. It has been a whirlwind for the organization as it was just January when State Chairlady, Sandy Decker sent an invitation to a new bride of a Sir Knight to become an Auxiliary Member (following the open enrollment guidelines for the Ladies Auxiliary). After several inquiries and a number of s, October, 2010 and much encouragement from the Fourth Degree officers in Newton, the coordination meeting was held May 12. Eleven ladies presented a proposal to the Sir Knights to form the auxiliary and present their local program. When they were asked if they were willing to be charter members of the auxiliary it was unanimous, YES! Officers were elected that evening so that business could begin. In June, the Bylaws were developed and approved. A mass mailing was sent to all Knights of the 1704 Council inviting wives, mothers, daughters and sisters to become Charter members of the Auxiliary. On July 13, fourteen new officers were installed; Elected Officers -Ellen Einhorn-Chaplain, Debbie Matson-President, Denisse Ochs-Vice President, Marie Kuhl-Secretary, Sandy Wilson-Treasurer, Karen Buerster, Sue Roth, Caroline Matson - Trustees. Appointed Officers- Chancellor of Sunshine- Sue Sparks, Chancellor of Education-Stephanie Stark, Greeter-Kim Wilson, Historian-Amy Woodard, Chancellor of Charity-Cheryl Matson, and Parliamentarian-Pam Kerner. 2 VOLUME 2, ISSUE 4 PAGE 2 Chartered 52 Members and we continue to grow. Since the Auxiliary s inception we have hosted a Rehearsal Reception for the St. Thomas New Church Dedication. Our Mission is a charitable organization, at service to God, Knights of Columbus, Church, Family and others. We are a learning organization. The charge to the president is to grow in the organization not only in numbers, the individuals of the organizations; providing opportunities for each to grow in their leadership and skills. More importantly we are at service to each other, if a Lady Knight is in need of our assistance in any way, we will be there for each other. The first official meeting for the Auxiliary will be on August 9, At this meeting a speaker will inform the group of opportunities with a new assisted living facility being built in Newton. The September meeting will include a program to teach those present how to make scrapbook style greeting cards. The first fundraiser is planned for October 31, a Halloween Dance. A number of other items are in the works, a Mother/Daughter Banquet with a Wedding Dress Fashion Show, a Father/Child Breakfast, a Father/Daughter Dance, Taco Night and more. We are an extremely enthusiastic group looking forward to some fun times ahead. We thank God for the formation of this Auxiliary, and for Sandy Decker as she was with us each step of the way. Installation of Elected Officers Installation of Appointed Officers 1704 Newton Ladies around a cake made to resemble the New St. Thomas Church. The cake was made from 20 cakes, 10 boxes krispy treats, 20 pounds of fondant. Four Newton Eagle football players delivered the cake to the hall. Debra Matson, President #3731 GLENVIEW The Ladies Auxiliary of Fr. John J. Dussman Council 3731 was formed in 1968, and at present have78 members. One of our most successful fundraising programs is our "Christmas Gift Basket Raffle". Our Ladies make and donate 10 to 12 beautiful assorted Gift Baskets. We display the baskets at church and at our Council's annual Christmas Party. Tickets are $1.00 each, 6/$5.00. We advertise that proceeds go to support a Seminarian, which we do though our council and the RSVP program. Five Seminarians are each given a $ check at our Christmas party. One is presented by our President and is made known that the gift is though the efforts of our Ladies Auxiliary. Marge Theriault, Treasurer

We have been blessed with a fine group of ladies that know the true meaning of Teamwork! Penny Klama, President In June, the Knights of Columbus #14562 held their Second Annual Fishing Derby. The Daughters were there bright and early signing in fishermen and later feeding them. In July, the new officers were installed for the Knights of Columbus # We celebrated Mass with the Knights and provided desserts at the reception. Several of the Daughters of Isabella worked as volunteers at our parish Vacation Bible School. We were song, craft, and game leaders. The kids had a GREAT time, as we found out about the unknown heroes of the Bible. We learned that anyone can be a hero for God. The Daughters of Isabella hosted a Women s Spirituality Retreat. Not only were our members invited, but many of our new friends from Nina Council #3602 attended. The day was full of faith-filled activities as well as time for fellowship. We would highly recommend Sister Nancy Roberta at Portiuncula Center for Prayer in Frankfort, Illinois. We congratulate Treasurer, Susan Murphy, who was named Knights Family of the Month in July. We also congratulate Vice-President Paula VanderMeer who was named Lady of the Year. Both Daughters of Isabella give of their time, talent, and treasure to make our council a success.

5 PAGE 5 The Daughters of Isabella voted, unanimously, to re-elect the officers that began our Chapter last October.
