Stand with Stan In Exodus 14, we can read about how God saved the children of Israel from the Egyptian army by parting the Red Sea. Immediately upon seeing their deliverance, Moses and the children of Israel sang a song of praise to God. Here s a small portion: The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him The joy they felt, because God had delivered them, naturally sprang forth into song. Today, every Christian knows the joy of deliverance; however our deliverance is not from an earthly enemy, but from the sin which separated us from God. How much greater our joy should be. How much greater our song of worship should sound. Read Exodus 14 and 15 and try to imagine how afraid, and then how joyful and thankful the children of Israel must have been. Then take a few minutes and consider how enslaved we might be without the deliverance from sin that Christ provides. And finally let the joy of salvation spring forth from your heart as we gather for worship each week. May we all praise God as a constant reminder. Bro. Stan

3 DONNA S DIALOGUE Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 In January, Ronnie challenged our congregation with our focal points for the year. Fellowship, Bible Study and Care should result in evangelizing the lost and the discipleship of the members of our congregation. He used the entire passage of Acts 2: For this article, I would like to focus on the last two verses that are written above. For many in our congregation, they cannot imagine missing Sunday School for more than a week or two when they are on vacation. For others, Sunday School is not a priority. If they show up, they ll go, but they don t feel like they re missing anything important if they don t go. I would assert that, in a sense, neither group is viewing Sunday School in a way that is transformational. Yes, I absolutely appreciate the commitment level of the first group but if we are going to experience every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved, then we have to believe that the activities that precede that statement are important, don t we? During my first meeting with our Sunday School teachers, I challenged the teachers to schedule quarterly fellowships with their classes. These fellowships can certainly happen in homes, but they can also happen in restaurants, parks, bowling alleys, and coffee houses. Wherever your class can break bread, praise God in the midst of their fellowship and show others what Christian fellowship looks like is a good place. Remember, just as it was in the early church, not everyone is going to naturally come to your worship service. You might have to engage them more than once for them to feel comfortable enough to ask about the change in your life. Who knows? The waitress that serves your class s dinner could notice your loving fellowship, ask where you are from, visit the service, make a decision for Christ, share her faith with her family and before you know it, her and her family s lives are all changed, all because you met together to break bread. You might even get to know each other better too. This is a win-win situation. Give it a try. Start thinking about your role in your class s fellowships. I look forward to hearing the stories of transformation both in the lives of our current members and those whom we meet as we gather together outside of the four walls of FBC Marrero. Schedule 5:30 p.m. KREW = Kids Radically Expressing Worship 6:00 p.m. Wednesday Night Meal 6:20 p.m. Adult Bible Studies Youth Bible Studies CIA s for Kids grades 1-6 Preschool Childcare 7:20 p.m. Choir Rehearsal Listen to local Christian Radio 89.1 FM CUPCAKE Of the Month White Chocolate Raspberry For the batter: For the frosting: 1 stick butter 5 oz white chocolate, melted 3/4 cup of sugar & cooled 1 1/4 cup flour 2 cups powder sugar 1/4 tsp. baking soda 2/3 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. baking powder 1 stick softened butter 1/4 tsp. kosher salt 1/4 cup milk 2 room temp. For the Filling: 1/4 cup sour cream 8 oz frozen raspberries 1/3 cup white chocolate chips 1 tblsp water 1 tsp vanilla 3 tblsp sugar 1 tblsp cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup water * Preheat oven to 350. Beat butter and sugar on high until fluffy. * Add in the eggs, and vanilla and beat well. * Use a spatula to stir in the rest of the ingredients. Please help your leader and class to meet this challenge by scheduling a party, meal or night out before the end of March! chocolate chips last. * Divide evenly to make 12 cupcakes. Bake for about 15 minutes. * Puree all the filling ingredients together in a blender. * Cut a hole (or core) in the middle of each cupcake and pour in the puree. Top with the cupcake piece that you removed. * Beat all the frosting ingredients except the white chocolate, until light and fluffy. Beat in the white chocolate last. * Frost each cupcake and ENJOY!

5 At the beginning of this month just one team from the NFL will have met its challenge for the year to win the Super Bowl. But there are many other goals that teams must meet before they can go to the Super Bowl making the playoffs, winning the division, winning the conference. What will it take for our church to be Super in Jesus' eyes? This year, our theme is "Focus!" Our Focal Points are Fellowship, Bible Study and Care. Donna, our Director of Education, has challenged each Sunday School/Bible Study Class to hold a fellowship for each quarter of this coming year. I am taking this challenge seriously with the class that I am a part of, and I challenge you to do the same. Our class is hosting a Super Bowl party to meet this challenge in the first quarter. What will your class do to meet this challenge? You can have a party, go out to eat, get together for ice cream, go to the circus or a sporting event. The idea is to have something fun to do that all of your class can attend, and even more importantly invite others who are not a part of your class to attend. At the end of this month, I am going to begin a new sermon series to help you meet this challenge. The series will challenge us to look around (to see those who need Jesus), to look up (to pray for them), to look out (for opportunities to form a relationship with them) and to look after them (to care for them during their times of need). Here are a few tips for planning your fellowship: 1) Talk in your class about a good day and time for your fellowship. 2) Discuss what you would like to do at your fellowship that you could also invite your friends to be a part of. 3) Set the day, time and place of your fellowship. 4) Invite friends from outside the class to attend!
