Often the fail is due to an ad s placement. For example, a billboard about childhood obesity appears next to one for a fastfood restaurant, and a promotion for The Walking Dead is posted near a mortuary. Volume 39, Issue 6 JUNE 2018 Billboards for Jesus As Christ s ambassadors on earth (see 2 Corinthians 5:20), we serve as walking, talking billboards for Jesus and our faith. Despite our sinfulness and often cringeworthiness Jesus lives in us, whom he created to do good works (see Ephesians 2:10). Even though we will never be perfect billboards for Jesus, let s not cover up our message. Instead, let s embrace the privilege of being salt and light (see Matthew 5:13-16), proclaiming the gospel in a dark world. Newsletternewsletter.com June, 2018

Also, if you would like to volunteer to help staff the booth during upcoming months please contact John or Sue and let them know. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Cold Springs Preschool is open for registration for the school year. We have a wonderful, caring preschool and would love the opportunity to have your 1-5 year old enrolled. A registration form is on our website coldspringsumc.org, then click the preschool tab. Please call and Carol Hendry, the Preschool Director, will be happy to schedule a tour or answer questions.

3 Page 3 Cub Scout News: From Kindergarteners (Lions) though Arrow of Light (5 th graders) we have been busy through the Winter. Pack 5 took a weekend in March to Discover Charlotte. We went to the Aviation Museum near the airport to see different types of airplanes and the airplane that landed on the Hudson River in NY. We had two people who were on that flight to speak to us about their experience. We then went to the NASCAR Hall of Fame to explore the huge museum, learn history of racing and try our hand at driving a simulated ride. For the night, we stayed in Discovery Place and had the whole museum to ourselves.we did sleep a little. We headed home after breakfast at the museum and I m sure most of us took a nap as soon as we got home! We are camping at Reed Gold Mine in May with a full program and in June we camp at Dan Nicholas Park. We hope it doesn t rain! We have the new motto Want rain? Ask Pack 5 to go camping. It s so true! Our end of the year ceremony is Sunday, 6/3, 4:00 PM in the Fellowship hall and we invite all to come see the boys get their awards. However, pack 5 continues with activities all summer. We will be going swimming, going to summer camp at Camp Barnhardt and other activities. We invite all boys to join us and we are always looking for more adults to help. These items include such things as pocket Bibles, travel shampoos, conditioners, soap, and other necessities. A green bin is located under the mailboxes in the hallway behind the sanctuary and in the narthex. A list of other items are located on the flyer at these collection bins. Pleasant Food Ministry s Current needs: Pancake Mix, Syrup, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Soup, and Dried Milk Non-food items: Laundry Detergent, Shampoo, Face Soap, Toilet Tissue, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Diapers The basket for donations to this food pantry is located in the hall behind the sanctuary beside the church mailboxes.
