4 From The East, Brethren, This article brings me great sadness to write. The Trestleboard is a little late due to me trying to find the words to say what I mean as opposed to what I feel. W.B. Jack Daniel has passed on to the Celestial Lodge above. I will miss him dearly. On my travels to the East, he was always on my left. Giving me advice, telling me to slow down, take a deep breath and just relax. After three years of him talking in my ear I was installed as Worshipful Master. He was still on my left, though the advice stopped unless I asked. Jack was my friend, my brother, and my Chaplain. I will always be grateful for having him in my life. W.B. Jack served this Lodge as Building Manager for many years, I don t think anyone actually knows the amount of time and energy that job actually takes. I don t believe that we ever thanked him enough for all he did. There will not be elections at our next Stated Meeting as you voted, for reasons which I will give at our Stated Meeting. But please come anyway to enjoy the friendship and brotherly of the Lodge. I have received inquiries from Brothers visiting in the area looking to visit a Lodge, I believe we will see some of them at our next stated meeting. Please come out and greet our visiting brethren. Craig Montgomery Worshipful Master
5 From The West, "What Can We Do? This last month a lot has been on my mind regarding mental health, guns, and politics. Yes, these topics are very controversial in Masonry as well as in other social circles, but I would be remiss if I didn t share some thoughts on these issues; having been myself in a school shooting. Most of us are aware of the incident that took place in Florida this month and I believe many of us thought to ourselves, what can I do? Maybe we feel powerless and far removed from the problem and don t feel it relevant to our lives. There bad patters forming in our society and we need to start building ourselves and others around us to curtail these evil acts, and I believe can start right here, within the Sun City Lodge. A man was asked once how he governed a group of thousands and he responded, "I don t. I teach them correct principles and they govern themselves." What I m trying to say is we need to support our masonic youth more than ever. Yes, DeMolay, Job s Daughters, Rainbow Girls, and even the Boy Scouts. This new generation will be our leaders, teachers and moral future. Masonry teaches us how to become a principled man and woman, molding and improving our minds and morals. We have a great opportunity to help instill good principles with the youth at our lodge and they in return to others. So, if you are ever thinking, what can I do? This is what you can do; this is where we start to make a better world is with our masonic youth. I challenge everyone who reads this message to become in some way or another involve with the masonic youth here at Sun City Lodge. Most respectfully,
6 , From The south Brethren, We enter the month of March with the start of spring which brings new beginnings in nature. The Irish look to St. Patrick s Day as the celebration of their culture. They also played a significant role in the recorded foundation of Freemasonry. The Grand Lodge of Ireland is the second most senior Grand Lodge of Freemasons in the world, and the oldest in continuous existence is celebrated as its anniversary. The Irish Grand Lodge has regular Masonic jurisdiction over 13 Provincial Grand Lodges covering all the Freemasons of the island of Ireland, and another 12 provinces worldwide. As we approach the day that is celebrated by the Irish culture, we as Freemasons should always try to find time to remember and reflect upon our history and traditions. The lessons taught within the lodge should stand tall in our daily lives and enable us to touch others with our teachings and practices. This will ensure the successful continuation of the finest and most prominent fraternity in the world. On April 14, Sun City Lodge will hold its first Annual Pancake Breakfast to serve as a fundraiser for our charitable efforts. The breakfast will be open not only to our members but to all the appendant bodies and the general public. This is a great opportunity to invite guests to start their day with a great meal but also to introduce nonmembers to our lodge, which will be open to see, and encourage them to ask questions that may pique their interest in possible membership. Look forward to seeing everyone at our Stated Meeting and a big Thank You to those that have already volunteered to help build our breakfast into a successful event. A flyer is included with the Trestleboard with details about the price and time. Fraternally and sincerely, Kevin D. Baver, PM Stated Meeting Dinner Menu MENU: Irish Stew, Cornbread and Dessert The cost for dinner is $8.00 Reservations would be appreciated at least 3 days in advance. RSVP to: Kevin Baver kdbaver@hotmail.com or call the lodge at

Jack Daniel Remember him eer the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl be broken; or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. ~ Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 Masonic tradition calls on us to aid and assist all distressed brothers, withersoever dispersed. 20 SUN CITY CHAPTER 66 ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR A beautiful Friendship night was enjoyed in our packed chapter room. Resplendent in Red with a glorious Valentine wreath, our guests enjoyed a fun night with all the counterparts participating and cookies and fellowship afterwards. We are so proud of our chapters generous giving to the USO. A certificate was sent to our chapter, thanking us for our donation of close to $700. Keep in mind that May will be our final collection for U-Mom, towels, sheets sundry items and the blankest for the rescue animals. Fiesta Day is coming up March 3, a good time to clean out those closets and garages. If you need something too big or heavy picked up, call Paula Horn and they will make arrangements. Mark your calendars for April 7 th, The Queen of Hearts Tea is just around the corner. This is a good opportunity to bring friends and maybe some will be interested in our order. We will miss Sister Berma Dudley as she has gone to be with God. The chapter will mis s her as she was one of our most loyal and beautiful members. She will be remembered for her generous giving of time and talents to our order. Please keep Lillian Ryan in your prayers as she has experienced her third stroke. She is getting along well at home but cards and prayers are always appreciated. The love of the order is exhibited greatly when we gather for meetings and social afterwards. As time goes on we appreciate the camaraderie and friendships garnered in Order of the Eastern Star. Stay healthy. Respectfully submitted, Sandy Munster PM
21 Peoria CHAPTER 59 ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR Peoria Chapter has three big events this month. We will again be holding our Semi-Annual Steak Fry on March 4 from 3:00 until 6:00 pm. Bring you family, friends, prospective members, join the fun and have great food in great company! Contact our Secretary, Kathy Pierson ( ) for more information and for reservations. We hope to see you there! At our meeting on March 14, after her initiation, Ms. Sarah Thomas, will be the fourth generation of her family to be a member of this Chapter. We will welcome Sarah who will join her mother, Tami Thomas; grandmother, Phyllis Kennedy; and great-grandmother and Worthy Matron, Lois Davis to our Chapter. The Davis-Kennedy-Thomas family have been a wonderful addition to our Chapter and we re SO excited to have the youngest member in our OES Family. Congratulations to all! And finally, Peoria Chapter is 50 years old. At a Special Meeting to be held on March 31, the Chapter will be holding our 50 th Anniversary Luncheon starting at noon with a meeting to follow starting at 1:00 pm. We will be honoring our Charter Members, Jean Daws, Rowena Deserano, Jack Mahan, Betty and Bob Osborne at this time and the WGM Tori Loll will present them with their 50-year pins. This meeting replaces our regular meeting that would have been held on March 28 th. There is still time to purchase tickets for the Christmas Vignette. Six tickets are just $5.00, and the proceeds will benefit the Vi Patterson Memorial Scholarship Fund. See any Chapter member to get your tickets. On a sadder note, the Chapter grieves at the loss this past January, of two of our Charter members, Sisters Helen McKeever and Julia Muldner.
