1 Landmark Masonic Trestleboard SEPTEMBER 2012 ( Stated Meeting 2nd Tuesday 7:00 PM Is it on your calendar? What Is Freemasonry? I am the past, present and future I belong to all ages. I am steeped in tradition and I tread the pages of history. I circle the globe and I stand at the crossroads of the world. I have rites and words that have beauty, sympathy and rhythm. I place upon my pedestal holy writ and I turn to God in prayer. I have knowledge, wisdom and secrets locked in my bosom, which I give to men who come desiring me in their hearts. I speculate with all the tools of operative masonry and I translate their use into moral and spiritual building. I await free men of mature age, sound judgment and strict morals, and of good report but I solicit none. I admit them of their own free will and accord and teach them brotherhood and charity. I travel the roads of peace and harmony and I walk in the ways of charity. I answer the cry of the orphan and sustain the widow and the aged. I render aid to the poor, the sick and the distressed. I am a way of life which teaches immortality. I lead men from darkness to light. I Am Freemasonry. Planting a Masonic Garden First, plant five rows of peas Preparation, Purity, Presence, Promptness, and Perseverance Then, plant three rows of squash Squash gossip, Squash interference, Squash indifference, Squash unjust criticism. Add five rows of lettuces Let us be faithful to duty, Let us be unselfish and loyal, Let us be true to our obligations, Let us obey rules and regulations, and let us love one another. And since no garden is complete without them, finally plant turnips Turn up for meetings, turn up with a smile, Turn up with new ideas, Turn up with new members, Turn up with determination to make everything count for something. The large window in the main storage room has been removed, framed in and ready to begin siding once the rest of the outside building projects are completed. The next project will be to replace the dining room windows with energy efficient windows. HOW CAN YOU HELP? Our lodge is beginning to show a bit of wear and tear and we need your help. On the left you will see a WISH LIST of just a few of the items that need attention. Many of these items are sweat equity, while others have a cost. Let s put some time and energy into OUR lodge and bring back the pride in what we are and represent. Sometimes you may not be able to physically help with the projects, but if you can help with donations to buy supplies, it would be greatly appreciated or come out on the renovation days and enjoy a cup of coffee with the brothers. He who seeks to draw Masonic wages in gold and silver will be disappointed. The wages of a Mason are earned and paid in their dealings with one another; sympathy that begets sympathy, kindness begets kindness, helpfulness begets helpfulness, and these are the wages of a Mason.. Did You Know? When the lodge decided it was time for a new building, they purchased the current property in 1982 for $4,500. In the next 24 months, over $70,000 of donations and loans were spent with many hours of donated time and expertise to make this new building became a reality. On July 28, 1984 the building was dedicated with a cornerstone ceremony. Let s make our founding father s proud and continue to take care of what they started. A dream that continues today to promote brotherly love and enlightenment. Masonic Bibliography Each month we plan to highlight a brother from our Lodge in this newsletter. We would like to share with your fellow brothers a bit about your life. Don t be shy we want to get to know you better. We will be contacting you to see if you will be a willing candidate.
