P A G E 2 The Pastor Ponders... I can t believe it s almost here! July! We re about to embark on our second trip to Honduras, and we are busily preparing for our big water installation week. Our team this time around will consist of Dennis DeBlock, Christy Smith, and yours truly, and we will be joining with the team from Hillwood Presbyterian, with their pastor, Rik Rouquie, Martha Johnston, Ed Hogg, and Barbara Oonk. Please keep us in your prayers as we fly out at 5:30 in the morning on July 17. Also keep the people of Morazan in your prayers and their workers who will be building the water system and learning to maintain it under the tutelage of our team. Christy, Rik, and I will be leading classes on proper health and hygiene, as well as connecting it all to the importance of the life giving water that Jesus Christ brings to our lives. We will be training leaders in the church in the mornings, and then supervising as they teach others in the afternoons. We pray that by this time next month we will have our first ever birth announcement of a new clean water system! God has been so good to us. We can see how He has paved the way to get us to this point. I m also thrilled that Steve Young, the Director of Development for Living Waters of the World, will be with you all on Sunday, July 22, while we are still in Honduras. He will be with the children during Super Summer Sunday School and see the amazing class room that Christy Smith and her helpers designed to provide the setting for Living Waters curriculum they are studying. Our BPC kids have been supporting our water project for many years, so our success is theirs, too! Then, Steve, will be bringing the message during worship, and celebrating the journey and partnership of Bellevue Presbyterian Church, Hillwood Presbyterian Church, and Living Waters for the World! Our God is an awesome God! Thanks be to God and to this wonderful church family for making this wonderful event happen!! Peace, Bellevue Presbyterian Church Simulated Workshop For Living Waters for the World Monday, July 9, :30 am 12:00 noon B E L L E V I E W S

P A G E 8 Outreach A little rain, a lot of ice cream, a great fundraiser! Thanks to a lot of ice cream and just a little rain, the 27th Miss Martha's Ice Cream Crankin' & Summer Social raised $61,000 to support programs for children, families and individuals living in poverty. REPORT FROM A CRANKIN VOLUNTEER I volunteered for the Crankin. They asked us in advance to sign up for a time frame, and we were told what to do when we got there. I sold tickets, and distributed tickets to those who had pre-registered, along with three other people in my booth. The weather was glorious ~ Praise the Lord!! During a portion of that time, some of our group stood in the sidewalk entrance area with the balloons overhead to make sure everyone had a ticket. Continued Blessings, Kris Hanson B E L L E V I E W S
P A G E 9 The mission of BPC to discern and carry out God s will, is supported by our dedicated volunteers as well as a talented paid staff. These are the wonderful people who comprise our staff and some things you might not know about them. Pastor: Kristi Shay Moore. We know Kristi loves movies, but she especially enjoys science fiction and fantasy movies. This includes movies that the rest of us have never, ever heard of! In her call at BPC, Kristi, loves being part of shaping disciples for Christ, seeing people grow and mature in their faith and being able to use her creativity to those ends. Kristi has been with us since May Director of Christian Education: Sandra Shepherd Sandra supports and resources the education ministry teams for members of all ages. She has loved getting to know the caring people at BPC since she came to us in Nov Sandra is married (33 years) to Scott who continues to have a dental practice in AL while also being in Nashville as much as he can. Sandra is also ordained as a pastor in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as such before coming to us. She loves singing, quilting and cheers for the Braves no matter what. Jan Anderson: Administrative Office Manager Jan provides administrative support to the pastor and staff as well as church members. She enjoys facilitating communication among a group of Christians engaged in a common goal. Jan has been at BPC since Dec She is actively involved in her own Church where she is a committee chair and supervises costumes for the church s Walk Thru Bethlehem. She has been married to Steve for 46 years and enjoys her granddaughter. (A grandson is on his way, due July 13). Brian Warford: Director of Music Brian oversees all aspects of music for the church. He has been at BPC, part time, since Aug He enjoys having a significant role in creating a new vision for music at BPC. He is also President of Brian s Custom Theaters which specializes in home electronic systems. He is married to Allison and they have two children, Noel and Clara who have blessed us with their musical talents. Brian likes to cook, do home improvement, read and go to movies. Kwang Seo: Accompanist Kwang plays organ and piano for choir practice and worship. Outside of BPC he is an organ and piano teacher. Kwang has been with us part time since Dec He is married to Mimi and they have one son. Beth Dawson: Church treasurer Beth keeps track of the flow of money in and out- at BPC. If you are wondering how much you owe on your pledge, I am your gal! Beth works part time at BPC and has since Nov She and her husband are farmers who grow crop corn, soybeans, chickens and cattle. She loves bird hunting in her free time. She has two sons and seven grandchildren. Others on our team include Susan Gotwald (church caterer), Christy Sawyer (Director of Early Education) and Rusty Bender of Top Brass Building Services. Please join us in supporting the hard work of these folks with your prayers, your support and your thanks. We couldn t do it without them!
AND NOW THERE ARE 1,372! This is the March class of Clean Water U at Camp Hopewell in Mississippi, raising to 1,372 the number of graduates since the first CWU in Three more classes are scheduled this year, two at Hopewell and one at Calvin Crest in California. BPC s Christy Smith is pictured on the second row, fourth from left.
Good news, everybody! BPC will be exploring the Good News together starting in August. Of course, many of us have been reading and studying the Bible for years, and we hear messages based on its truths each week. But this will be a new approach. The Session has endorsed church-wide engagement with The Story. The Story is an abridged version of the Bible using the New International Version. It is laid out in the chronological order of the biblical stories rather than the book by book format we ve known. Have you ever felt intimidated at the thought of reading the full-length unabridged Bible? Do you wish you had a more holistic and sequential picture of the storyline of Scripture? Are you a seasoned Bible veteran who would like to dig more deeply into the archaeological, historical, and theological concepts of the biblical story? Do you want to be more comfortable talking about scripture with your family, friends, and church family? If you answered YES! to ANY of those questions, THE STORY is for you! Are you wondering how to get involved? Watch for more details!!! (Don t you just love a cliff-hanger?)
