3 Calling all noodle makers and anyone wanting to learn, we will be making noodles for the German Fest on Saturday May 3 rd starting around 8:30am - 9:00am till done. Anyone wanting to help be at the Church that morning and bring a sack lunch. Thanks to R.J. and Barbara Smith, Keith Ahrens and Lynda Leo for cutting the cabbage on April 6th to began the process of sauerkraut for the German Fest meal on April 6 th. Congratulations to Katherine Korth. Burris Korth was born on April 23th and weighed in at 8.8 pounds, 21" long. Proud parents are Jordan and Chelsey Korth.

6 Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the Wolz Family on the loss of their loved one and the congregation of St. Johns on the loss of one of their own, Lyle Lamar Wolz (December 23, April 4, 2014) Lyle Lamar Wolz, 78, died peacefully at his home in Caldwell on April 4, 2014, with Esther, his loving wife of 45 years, and his - in-law, Georgie Dodge present. Lyle was born December 23, 1935, in Deanville to Ben and Mary Wolz. He grew up on his family s farm. He was baptized into the Christian faith March 15, 1936, by the Rev. Baer at the Lutheran church in Waldeck in Fayette County. Lyle graduated from high school in Caldwell in 1954 and went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation. He joined the U.S. Army in 1955, and served in Korea in After leaving the Army, Lyle worked for Thiokol Chemical Corporation, Eastman Kodak, NASA, where he was a test engineer for the space program, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, from which he retired in After retiring from the Department of Agriculture, Lyle worked for Caldwell Country Chevrolet for 16 years. Lyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He and Esther enjoyed spending time with their four children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. When not enjoying the company of his family, Lyle loved to work on his family s farm. Lyle was generous with his time and devoted to his community. He served on Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative s Board of Directors from 1983 to 2013, including 10 years as Chairman. Lyle succeeded his father, Ben, on Bluebonnet s Board. The Wolz family was involved in the co-op s leadership for nearly all of its 75-year history. During his tenure on the Board, Lyle helped guide Bluebonnet through many changes and some of its toughest challenges. Lyle was a strong believer in the importance and value of education, especially Bluebonnet s scholarship and government youth tour programs. Lyle loved Bluebonnet, its employees and members because he believed in the cooperative principle. He was loved by all in return. Lyle s service to the community went beyond Bluebonnet. He was a member of the Deanville Sons of Hermann Lodge, serving as its president for five years. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Deanville Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He joined the Burleson County Co-op Feed Store in 1981 and served as president for 27 years. He also served on the board of the Deanville Water Supply Corporation for eight years. Lyle was a member of St. John s Lutheran Church in Deanville. Lyle had a deep, unwavering faith in God that could be felt by everyone around him. His faith enabled him to maintain his sense of humor and dignity throughout his battle with cancer and brought him peace in the final weeks of his life. Lyle is survived by his wife, Esther; daughters Lisa Chenault, and her husband, Cody, of The Woodlands, Linda Bowman, and her husband, Randy, of Lyons, Lydia Jackson, and her husband, Randy, of Manvel, and Rebecca Schuett, and her husband Brian, of Houston; grandchildren Amanda Chenault, Cailey Chenault, Dan Hays, and his wife, Holly, Matthew Schuett, Brandon Schuett, Steven Jackson and Amanda Jackson; great grandchildren K Lee Bowman, Dean Larson, Sydney Hays and Cameron Hays. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, and countless friends made during his remarkable life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Wolz; and his brothers, Lanceer and H.D. Wolz. Viewing will be Sunday, April 6, 5 to 8 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, 404 W. Buck, in Caldwell. Funeral services will be Monday, April 7, 10 a.m., at St. John s Lutheran Church in Deanville. Pall bearers are Sidney Zgabay, R.J. Smith, Bobby Schumacher, James Schumacher, Matthew Hicks, and Keith Ahrens. Honorary pall bearers are Lyle s fellow Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Directors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lyle s name to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX, 77833; the American Cancer Society, the cemetery fund or memorial fund at St. John Lutheran Church in Deanville, or the charity of your choice.

7 Thanks to everyone who enhanced the Easter Season by giving of their many talents. To those who prepared the food for the Pancake Supper and Easter Breakfast, and decorated the tables and the doors, purchased Easter Lilies, provided music, especially Lamar for the beautiful ending of the Maundy Service and Matt and the Sunday School Children for their presentation during the 10:00 a.m. Easter Service. Thanks to Terry for his dedication to St. Johns and to everyone who was present as we celebrated on Easter Sunday the Risen Savior who conquered Satan, sin, and death and as we celebrated the hope of heaven all because Jesus Lives! He is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed! If you have received a Baptismal Box from the church and it becomes damaged or broken in any way, please get them to Jim Peed and he will fix them at no charge. 8 The Ladies of St. John s bake sale was a great success thanks to all of the wonderful bakers that donated to it and thanks to all those who helped at the bake sale. Here is a breakdown of the money we made. The grand total was $1,453.50, we received a donation of $ from Pat Bradshaw of Longshot Specialties. The total made from the sale of baked items sold was $ A thank you note has been sent to Mr. Bradshaw it was signed by several of the ladies on Easter Sunday.(A matching fund of $600 will be received from Thrivent) I want to thank everyone that gave donations to the Church and memorial fund, cemetery fund and to Hospice in Lyle s memory. And also to you ladies of the Church that worked in the kitchen. Also for the men who set up tables and chairs. To everyone who donated food for our family and friends. It was greatly appreciated. God Bless each of you. Ester Wolz Do you remember the Southern Pacific Depot in Deanville? Gone for more than 40 years thanks to the generosity of Andy and Robin Rudderow who recently purchased the property (approximately 3 miles from the original site) that the depot sat on since Others who were generous in the depot coming back to Deanville were Benny and Tammy Jones who donated about a quarter of an acre for the depot s new home and the Emmitt and Gladys Wolz family who donated more than an acre where the old cotton warehouse was locatedbordering the depot s old location. The building right now is in good shape and solid as a rock. A Deanville Heritage Foundation has been formed with Wayne Wolz, President; Tommy Ryan, secretary/treasurer; and board members Matt Hicks, John Smith, Leonard Kubiak and Troy Poehl. The Foundation is interested in hearing from people who live in Deanville. This past week Deanville was fortunate enough to have had their old depot returned to that town.
