HILL Grill The "Hill Grill" for October will be sponsored by the "Purple Hats" to benefit the "BOL" program. Soups, sandwiches & dessert will be served. Come out Oct. 4th starting at 6 pm. and enjoy a time of fellowship before Bible study. Upward Sports Ministry PLEASE PRAY ABOUT HOW YOU CAN SERVE! Ginger and Justin would love for our entire congregation to be involved in Upward Sports ministry. Upward is not just about sports it is about introducing our community to Jesus Christ! God has blessed and we have seen several kids come to know Jesus and families get involved at RHBC through this ministry. Please pray about how God would have you serve! Response Team After the recent tornado damage in the Courtney area, the Yadkin Baptist Association is compiling a quick response team in the event of another tragedy in the future. If you would like to be a part of this team and have your name on the list, send a text to Mark Russell , with your name, number and your skills that you are willing to offer to those in need. Pastor s Corner I would like for you to read these passages. First Corinthians 14:40 says, Let all things be done decently and in order. Hebrews 13:17 states, Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for this is unprofitable for you. First Peter 5:1-6 reads, The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind. Neither as being lords over God s heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. You are to obey the humble soul who does not demand your obedience. There is no room for dictatorship in Christian leadership. If you keep up with automobiles you probably know who Bob Lutz is. Bob was wrote an article in Road and Track dated December 2015 about the disaster at Volkswagen when they were caught cheating on emissions standards. He blamed the problem on dictatorial leadership at the top of the company. Bob wrote, That management style gets short term results, but it s a culture that s extremely dangerous. Look at dictators. Dictators invariably wind up destroying the very countries they thought their omniscience and omnipotence would make great. It s fast and it s efficient, but at huge risk. The process of democracy in a church and in a nation may seem slow and plodding but it is still the best choice we have. God bless you all, Pastor Will Hamric

Bus leaves church at 7:00pm, will return around 7:45pm. Alpha & Omega Corn Maze Sunday, September 17. *Cost: Bring $11.00 with you. Bus leaves at 1:30pm and will be back around 6:00pm. Cost includes pre-game program, lunch and the game. Parents are welcome! Bus leaves church at 11:30am & will return after game. Christian Round-up Concert Sunday, October 8. Bus leaves church at 4:30pm. FREE EVENT! Bring money for fast food on the way. Youth can call parents when we are headed back to the church. No Thrill Sunday, October 8 (Christian Round-up Concert). Fall Festival & Chicken Stew Sunday, October 29 from 5:30 7:30pm. Youth will likely help provide activities for the kids. More details will be communicated as we get closer to the event. WINTERFEST SIGN-UPS BEGIN SOON! STAY TUNED! UPWARD SPORTS NEWS Upward Committee Meeting Sunday, September 10 at Noon in the FLC Meeting Room. We will nail down our dates and discuss plans for the upcoming seasons.

Congratulations on the New Arrival: Mandy and Drew Jester welcomed a son, Beau Hudson Jester, on August 25, Grandparents are Tommy and Dana Jester, and great-grandmother is Judy Jester. Sympathies: To the family of Janice Crissman Moxley who passed away on July 10, Janice was a sister to our church family members Ross Crissman, Cora Lee Casstevens and Kay Hayes.

4 Ministries and Missions Prayers & Squares Quilts have been dedicated recently for Dorothy Holcomb, Lindlea Huttar, Kevin Walker, Larry Jester, Dylan Anderson, Vivi & Zeke Bowen, Adam Lancaster, Charles Parker, Justin Lancaster, Zola Fisk, Huston Pendry, David and Julie Pendry, Baby Nolan. Please continue to pray for these names as well as others who have received our quilts and prayers in the past. Through the sale of our long arm quilting machine, we were able to donate $500 toward our building fund debt. We have been greatly blessed with an abundance of everything needed to continue making quilts for those in crisis situations. Thank you to our church family and other friends for encouragement and support. P&S meetings are first Wednesday of each month, 9 a.m., Fellowship Hall. You don't have to be a quilter to belong - just have willing hands and a heart for those in need. Church Library The latest book added to our church library is the autobiography of Bill Gaither entitled It's More Than the Music: Life Lessons on Friends, Faith, and What Matters Most. Growing up in the rural town of Alexandria, Indiana, Bill Gaither dreamed of becoming a gospel singer. From humble beginnings, he would go on to write more than 600 songs, record 40 albums, and win three Grammys. Gaither reveals the triumphs and tragedies along the way. Readers will witness how God has blessed him as a songwriter, performer, entrepreneur and ultimately gospel music's elder statesman. His story will inspire and uplift as many people as his songs have touched lives. Also available for checkout is Something Beautiful by Gloria Gaither - the stories behind a half-century of the songs of Bill and Gloria Gaither as well as several Gaither Homecoming DVD's. What inspiring music the Gaither's have given us! Sisters at Heart: Will meet Tues, September 5 at 7 pm in the FLC.
