Pastor s Corner Psalm 126:5-6 says, They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. We have finished our Fall Revival and I am grateful for God s blessing on this church. Sometimes real revival is different than what we expect. We think of revival as a time of Happy-lujah where we watch a church grow rapidly. I have been at churches that grew rapidly but there was no revival. Real revival begins with tears and broken hearts. When Josiah became King he wanted to restore the Temple. As they went to work they found a copy of the Scripture. The Bible had been lost to them. In 2 King 22:11 when the Bible was read to Josiah he tore his clothes in repentance. To tear your clothes represented a broken heart. His repentance led to a great revival. When revival began in Acts it started with Peter who according to Matthew 26:75 remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. About a month ago I was praying desperately for help with a sermon. I said, Lord, if I preach a clinker people are libel to leave and never come back to this church. God spoke to my heart saying, You are trying to please men, rather than Me. The word broke my heart and I wept. A while back someone saw a person leaving worship in tears. They said to me, Did they get some bad news? They had not gotten bad news: they had been touched by God s spirit. I have been a pastor for 34 years and I have never seen more tears shed in worship than I have over this last year. Why is that so significant? Rees Howell was renown as a man of prayer. Listen to his words as he describes the great Welsh Revival which began in Every church was stirred to its depths. Strong men were in tears of penitence, and were moved with new fervor. People were overpowered by the Spirit as on the day of Pentecost whole congregations were melted, and people were crying out in agony of soul, What must we do to be saved? That is real revival. The hymn says, Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead. I have seen the mercy drops falling, now let us join our hearts and plead for the showers. God bless you, Pastor Will

4 Ministries and Missions Prayers & Squares Quilts have been dedicated recently for Bill Huff, Pernell Hobson, Jack Collins, Bill Smith, Robin Miller Stevens, Steve Davis and Carol Powell. Please continue to pray for these names as well as others who have received our quilts and prayers in the past. Quilters/crafters have discovered that there s something about working with your hands that can bring a deeper understanding of God and of our purpose in God s universe. Perhaps it s because when we re making something, we re engaging in an act of creation an act that we share with God, our Creator, and those around us who are in crisis. Praise be to God for giving us the wonderful gift of creativity and the means to share our talents to touch others! Church Library Pastor Will has been bringing us inspiring sermons on the glory of God. We have a book in the library called GLORY REVEALED: HOW THE INVISIBLE GOD MAKES HIMSELF KNOWN by David Nasser which tells us the God of the universe has gone to great lengths to make himself known to us. God is not silent; we just have to learn how to listen. He is not absent; we just have to know were to look. An inspiring read. With the holidays fast approaching, we have several books to emphasize the joy of celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas - children's books SAYING GRACE, WHAT HAPPENE TO MERRY CHRISTMAS?, ONE WINTRY NIGHT, THE LEGEND OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE. The story of Samaritan's Purse shoebox ministry can be found in OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD. Other books include: THE CHRISTMAS CANDLE (Max Lucado), THE CASE FOR CHRISTMAS (Les Strobel), THE PURPOSE OF CHRISTMAS (Rick Warren), and fiction books by Tracie Peterson, Melody Carlson and others. Why not consider donating a book to the library in honor/memory of a loved one - it would make a lasting gift! Sisters at Heart: Will meet Tues, November 7 at 7 pm in the FLC. Purple Hats: No meeting in November. Christmas Party will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12th at 6 p.m. in the FLC. "The NUTS are here!" All nuts are $11 except the chocolate-covered peanuts $9 We have Pecan halves & chopped, Almonds - Natural & Chocolate Covered, Cashews, Pistachios and Chocolate Covered Peanuts. See a "Purple Hat" to get yours. Thank you for your continued support! *** Please remember to send your Jan/Feb 2018 Items by the Deadline of Wednesday, Dec Thank you. *** For any news for the Jan/Feb 2018 newsletter, please to Wanda Poindexter at wpoinde@yadtel.net or call Allen or Wanda Poindexter at Thank You!
