Wallace Other Important Numbers Hartford Town Office Turner Office Game Warden BPIA gives a big welcome to all of the residents on the two ponds shores and to the long awaited summer months ahead. The officers and directors met on June 2nd to get a jump on the ongoing and up-coming BPIA activities. This meeting indicated that these indeed will be busy times for all in the BPIA organization. As well as the 10 already established committees, the idea of a Family Outing Day has been brought up and will be discussed further with the membership in the June meeting. Also planned for the June and July meetings is an information session on water testing/invasive plants by Rich Bray, and a lawenforcement officer guest speaker to discuss safety and property protection due to recent break-ins. Please plan to attend the June 24th meeting to be informed on all of these important activities. Let's give a hearty thank you to all of the BPIA volunteers that do so much good work for the welfare of the two Bear Ponds. If these valued individuals did not give of their own busy time, then it s likely BPIA would not exist. See everyone on the ponds and hopefully on the 24th at Boofy Quimby. Deceased Member: John McGuire Treasurer s Report: Checking Account: $2,746 Bear Pond Protection Fund: $14,563 ($6,544 in the Grant Protection Fund) Water Testing: Water clarity on the August test date was very good at 6 meters. The oxygen levels were typical for August. The color test showed the water much less coloration with a reading of 10 versus the typical reading around Invasive Plant Committee: Some shoreline algae is growing in weedy areas but it is localized. It may be the hot weather or a natural cyclical occurrence. Anyone who would like to learn how to spot invasive plants and be on our committee, please contact Rich Bray. Membership Committee: Please pay your dues. Remember part of the dues goes to the protection fund and enables the Lake Protection Committee to continue fixing erosion problems. As of October 11, 135 members paid dues. Lake Protection Committee: The Committee is collecting Grant applications until August 31, 2011 for work during the fall of 2011 and spring Three applications for grants were received and will be reviewed by the committee.
