That said, there is still an overwhelming need in our community. We are requesting donations of heaters in light of the recent extreme cold weather. All the heaters we collected or purchased have been distributed; the need is great. Thank you to all for any assistance. Kathy Amos, Needs of Many Secretary Just For Fun The minister and family were given a pie that proved to be inedible and had to be discarded in the garbage. It was the minister s task to write a thank you note. His problem: How to be truthful and tactful at the same time. He wrote, Dear Mrs. Jones, thank you for being so kind and thoughtful. You can be assured that a pie like yours never lasts long at our house! Present were the following Elders: Christy Hancock, Glenn Priebe, Joe Amos, Sandra Thorn, John Martin, Dave Boynton, Sheila Benz, and Jerry Jones. Also present was Moderator Gary Tubb and Stated Clerk Andy Marts. Gay King was absent. Gary Tubb opened the meeting with a devotion followed by prayer. The minutes for the October regular meeting, November 5 th worship meeting, and November 19 th congregational meeting were approved. Accepted the treasurer s report for October Accepted a report from the Property & Maintenance committee and adopted the recommendations made in the report concerning security measures that will be implemented. Reviewed the Roll of Members and determined that we had 93 active members in Approved the church budget for Approved the purchase of two new laptop computers to replace the old computers. John Martin closed the meeting in prayer. Next meeting will be Wednesday January 24, 2018 in the Hudson Fellowship Hall. Join us for the 32nd annual New Member Luncheon After church on January 21st we will meet and greet the people who have joined our church since the last new member luncheon in CPWM is providing baked potatoes. Please bring side dishes and deserts to share as we honor our new members during this time of fellowship.

3 P A G E 3 As I See It J A N U A R Y Here we are at the start of another year which will be unlike any other that we have known.. Sure, there are many similarities to all the other years we have lived. Most of us are a step slower than we were a decade ago. We have experienced those things in life which are unpleasant, but that is a part of living. However, lest we believe that life is nothing but negative change, we do get to see people who have optimistic viewpoints about the future even if they are short-lived. We do love to hear about the upcoming graduation from some level of education. We do love to hear young people planning for the next stage of their lives. We do love to hear about marriages, new jobs, planning for a family, and other changes for the betterment of others as well as retirement. One of the areas of which so many fail to plan is the place in which they will worship. I know that this is not a priority in the lives of so many young people, and as far as that goes, middle age and older people when a change occurs. The reasoning which so many give is they just want to get settled in before making such a big decision. Then years go by and other change is on the forefront with the big decision of where to worship never being broached. A generation of children have been born and raised with the only experiences in the Christian faith being at a distance or none at all. Even for some of us who call ourselves Christians, the separation from the church can occur accidentally. Some change in the family routine becomes a habit and the entrance through the church doors never does occur like it once did. When the break from the church occurs, there is an erosion of personal knowledge and the ability to share the Gospel of the Christ with family and friends. We know that we are in need of additional knowledge about the Christ. Those who have knowledge need to share that knowledge. The more often we share the Christ with others, the more natural and comfortable it becomes to share. I challenge you to make the year of 2018 a year in which you become a better and more knowledgeable Christian. The only way to do this is to commit yourself to being a part of the church every week and share the Gospel every day even if it is with a Christian encouragement to another person. If you are afraid you will offend someone by giving him a Christian greeting, consider that you have just sown some seeds upon some stony ground which needs some additional topsoil. The Kingdom of GOD is not full yet. So don't stop sharing. I look forward to serving with each of you during GOD will lead us through His Holy Spirit to do that which will grow the Kingdom to new levels. So lift up your anchor, get in the current, and sail in the direction in which you are lead. Serve the Lord with gladness. Bro. Gary It is all In How You Say It! A bachelor who for companionship, had a beloved cat for over 10 years, plans a vacation to Paris and entrusts the cat with his brother. As soon as he arrives in Paris he calls his brother and asks how his cat is doing without him. "Oh, the cat? He's dead." said the brother bluntly. "I can't believe this!" yells the bachelor. "How could you tell me he's dead like that?" "How else was I supposed to tell you?" the brother asked. "Well you could have broke it to me gently." the brother went on. "When I called today you could have said he is up on the roof but the fire department is getting him down. Then tomorrow when I called you could have said that he fell while they were trying to rescue him and broke his back but, don't worry, the best vet in town was doing the surgery to repair it. And then when I called the third day you could have said they did all they could do but they couldn't save him." The brother thought about this and says, "That does sound better than the way I said it." "Never mind," says the bachelor exasperated, "How's mother?" The brother says "She's on the roof but the fire department is getting her down."

4 December Activities Choir Party It has been said that good children get good gifts from Santa, and bad children get lumps of coal or the equivalent. When the gifts are coming from non-santas, you never know WHAT you are going to get!

5 Young At Heart Two Gifts In One! Names were drawn for a gift exchange that involved selecting a toy for the recipient that matched their interests or personality. After all the items were unwrapped and smiled over they were donated to the Salvation Army to give some kids a brighter Christmas.
