Life at Lakeside Date: October 5 Time: Equipping Hour 9:30-10:30am Location: Pastor Ken s Office Attention all LBC Newcomers: If you have been attending LBC for at least two months, you are invited to attend the upcoming Life At Lakeside class designed for those who want to get to know more about our church and become an official member of LBC. Last Week Worship Service: 475 Equipping Hour: 293 Date: September 28 Time: 12:30-2:00pm Location: Lakeside Bible Church General Offering: $20, Weekly Budget: $12, Building Fund: $ This four-week class will be held in Pastor Ken s Office during Equipping Hour on the following Sundays: October 5, 12, 19, & 26. We will discuss what it means to be a Christian, the purpose of the local church, the importance of church membership, the responsibility of church members, and LBC s principles, purposes, priorities, and programs. If you are interested in going through this important membership process, please sign up in the foyer, pick up a Membership Packet and follow the enclosed instructions. 4 Announcements MD Anderson Blood Drive On Saturday, October 4th from 8:00am-400pm in the lower level of the Walden Yacht Club, the Ladies Association of Walden is hosting a blood drive for the MD Anderson Blood Bank. The First 200 to donate will receive 2 free tickets to the Texas Renaissance Festival. Request an appointment at waldenblooddrive@consolidated.net or (936) Lakeside Live CD Pick up your copy of the first Lakeside Live CD today in the Foyer. Suggested donation of $2.00 Lakeside Bible Church will host DNOW 2014 on October 3-5th. (Friday night- Sunday morning). DNOW is a weekend where 7th-12th grade students gather together to worship, study God s Word, and have some crazy-fun together Students will be placed in a small-group and will be assigned an adult leader who will help guide their small-group discussions. These small-groups will then be assigned a host home for the weekend. Disciple Now weekends are a great place for students to invite un-churched friends who might otherwise feel threatened by church. The cost is $50 if registered by September 14. The cost increases to $60 after that. We understand that your student might have prior commitments that may prohibit them from being at DNOW the entire time. Don t let that stop them from attending DNOW. 5 Resource Center Don t forget to stop by our Resource Center to pick up a book, CD, or video that will help you grow in your understanding of God and His Word. Featured Books Of The Month Start your study of any scripture with a comprehensive overview of the book it is in. Talk Thru the Bible is an easy-to-use handbook that summarizes each book of the Bible with at-a-glance charts, illustrations, and outlines. This reference volume is your first step to more in-depth, more satisfying study. Good News Club Date: October 7 Time: 3:00-5:00pm Location: Lakeside Bible Church Our Good News Club will be starting up again this Fall. This 6-week, after school club provides the opportunity for children at Stewart Creek Elementary to hear the gospel and learn truth from God s Word at LBC. These students will then be able to take this truth home with them and share what they have learned with their parents and siblings. It s an approach to finding answers every Christian needs to know. Bible Doctrine takes a highly commended upper-level textbook on systematic theology and makes it accessible to the average reader. It s packed with solid, biblical answers to your most important questions. Differences between much of today s preaching and that of Jesus are not petty; they are enormous. This powerfully written book has a message which goes to the heart of the contemporary problem in a way that conferences and commissions on evangelism have failed to do. If you have a hospitable heart (i.e. "love of strangers") and want to help us make a good first impression by a smile, a handshake, or a hug as people arrive on Sundays and/or you want to play a role in following up our visitors with a phone call during the week, please sign up in the foyer to serve on our LBC Welcome Team.
