I want to thank my brother Knights who are helping at Dominic s Lenten Breakfast. This activity not only helps the Parish, but also is a fund raiser for our charities. If you have not helped in this activity, please consider helping at least one Sunday for a couple of hours. Please consider helping next year in some activity. We have many tasks that even can be executed at home. We are starting the nomination process for officers for next year. If you cannot serve as an officer, please consider helping out in one of our committees. This does not mean you have to show up at a meeting. Our Deputy Grand Knight has come up with a new scheme to help you see what activities are being planned. This will hopefully save us time in the business meetings. 2 Family of the Month March Victor and Evalicia Smith are very active in the Parish. Victor is a first degree Knight and hopefully will make his second and third degrees soon. Evalicia sings in the Choir and Victor helps out at daily Mass. Victor helps us in our fund raisers when he can. teacher and coordinator. Both have been Sacristans and Eucharistic Ministers. Knight of the Month March Philip Balmforth is our choice for Knight of the Month. Phil and Phyllis were the Family of the Year for Phil has been the Advocate and has been instrumental in our Scout troop. He is always willing to pitch in and help in all our activities. Knight of the Year 2015 Gary Delamielleure has been awarded the Knight of the Year Award. He was unanimously nominated for this award by the council. Gary first came up with the idea for the Catholic College Fair and submitted his idea to the Youth Committee and the Council. With the help of Greg Kirchmeier and the help of forty other Knights he orchestrated a very successful event. The event will again be held on October 5 to help students know more about the need for a good Catholic Education. Right to Life Events Family of the Year 2015 Don and Audrey Sucher have been awarded the Family of the Year Award. They have been treated to a dinner for two by the council. They have three sons and one daughter. Two of the sons are fourth degree Knights. They joined the parish in 1972 and Don was a charter member of the council. Don has been Grand Knight and is currently the Faithful Navigator. Audrey has been a Religious e\education 1. Rosary at Planned Parenthood on Saturday, March 12 at 10am. Note: It will be held in the chapel at St. Pats if bad weather days for Life continues until March 20 th. Thursday, March 10 th is our day for St. Pats. Come anytime between 8am and 7pm in front of Planned Parenthood across from the Buick Dealer. 3. The March Ultra Sound Meeting will be held at St. Joseph Parish in Howell on Monday, March 14 th at 6:30pm.

3 4. St. Pat s Respect for Life Ministry will meet on Monday, March 21 st at 6:30pm. Rosary in the Day Chapel and Meeting at PC-1. Parish Fair Raffle The Raffle held at the Parish Fair is a major fund raiser. Again this year, we have agreed to help with the raffle tickets. On Thursday, March 10 th after the 8:30am Mass, we will put the ticket packets together in McCann Hall. We can use around 25 people so we can accomplish this in less than 3 hours. SK Bob Flynn GK St. Patrick St. Patrick of Ireland is one of the world's most popular saints. Apostle of Ireland, born at Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, in Scotland, in the year 387; died at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland, 17 March, 461. Mike Moorman Family of the Month February Along with St. Nicholas and St. Valentine, the secular world shares our love of these saints. This is also a day when everyone's Irish. There are many legends and stories of St. Patrick, but this is his story. Patrick was born around 385 in Scotland, probably Kilpatrick. His parents were Calpurnius and Conchessa, who were Romans living in Britian in charge of the colonies. As a boy of fourteen or so, he was captured during a raiding party and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. Ireland at this time was a land of Druids and pagans. He learned the language and practices of the people who

4 held him. During his captivity, he turned to God in prayer. He wrote "The love of God and his fear grew in me more and more, as did the faith, and my soul was rosed, so that, in a single day, I have said as many as a hundred prayers and in the night, nearly the same." "I prayed in the woods and on the mountain, even before dawn. I felt no hurt from the snow or ice or rain." Patrick's captivity lasted until he was twenty, when he escaped after having a dream from God in which he was told to leave Ireland by going to the coast. There he found some sailors who took him back to Britian, where he reunited with his family. He had another dream in which the people of Ireland were calling out to him "We beg you, holy youth, to come and walk among us once more." He began his studies for the priesthood. He was ordained by St. Germanus, the Bishop of Auxerre, whom he had studied under for years. Later, Patrick was ordained a bishop, and was sent to take the Gospel to Ireland. He arrived in Ireland March 25, 433, at Slane. One legend says that he met a chieftain of one of the tribes, who tried to kill Patrick. Patrick converted Dichu (the chieftain) after he was unable to move his arm until he became friendly to Patrick. Patrick began preaching the Gospel throughout Ireland, converting many. He and his disciples preached and converted thousands and began building churches all over the country. Kings, their families, and entire kingdoms converted to Christianity when hearing Patrick's message. Patrick by now had many disciples, among them Beningnus, Auxilius, Iserninus, and Fiaac, (all later canonized as well). Patrick preached and converted all of Ireland for 40 years. He worked many miracles and wrote of his love for God in Confessions. After years of living in poverty, traveling and enduring much suffering he died March 17, 461. He died at Saul, where he had built the first church.why a shamrock? Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Trinity, and has been associated with him and the Irish since that time. In His Footsteps: Patrick was a humble, pious, gentle man, whose love and total devotion to and trust in God should be a shining example to each of us. He feared nothing, not even death, so complete was his trust in God, and of the importance of his mission. 5 praying. Your request will be sent to the members of the prayer line. Your request will be placed in the prayer line for 30 days. If you need prayers for an extended time just let Bob know the time frame. Note! You can also request a prayer on our new website by clicking on the PRAYER REQUEST button. You will be asked for your membership number and birth date. Please do not leave a reason for the request, ONLY the name. Lenten Breakfasts All brother Knights are urged to help with our annual Lenten breakfasts anytime from 8AM to 11AM Sundays March 6th and 13th. Call Chuck Totton at for more information. Need volunteers for Membership/Retention Committee to help make calls. Call Bob Flynn if you can help at Corporate Communion at 8 AM mass on Sunday March 13th. All Knights are urged to attend with their families. Need volunteers to be a member in the new Membership Committee to reach out to members who need help or are sick or have other special needs. Call Bob Flynn at if you can help. Annual Drive Calling all Knights. The 2016 Tootsie Roll Drive will be March 18th through 20th and we need your help. This is our largest fund raiser and we need all the help we can get. Our council is 233 members strong, each are looking for ways of contributing to the betterment of our church community and local charities. When we all first joined the Knights, all of us had plans to dedicate time and our strengths making our world a little better. But as time passes, work, hobbies, and other activities have taken priority over the reason why we joined the Knights. How many times have you said, I need to get back involved. Now is your chance. We need two hours of your time to help make this 2016 Tootsie Roll Drive a success. Please contact Larry Bacon to make arrangement for your specific time slots at or to lawrencebacon1@gmail.com Blood Drive on March 26 from 10 to 4PM. Call Kevin Roach at if you can help set up or take down. Last Drive collected 66 pints and 163 for the year. K of C State convention to be held on May 26th-27th-28th at Mackinac Island and the first delegates nominated are Bob Flynn and Phil Balmforth and 1st alternate nominated was Gary Delamielleure and 2nd alternate nominated was Bill Dunlop.
