Birthday Celebration Luncheon after worship on Sunday, April 24th at 12:00 noon. God calls us to be good stewards and caretakers of all that inhabits this earth. Unfortunately, we have heard over the last many years that the things we have been doing are causing harm to our great planet. And at times it seems overwhelming, like there is no turning back or undoing what humanity has caused. However, I believe we as individuals can do things to begin and continue to be good stewards of what we have. And, like flossing and brushing, there are regular and simple things that we can do, that over the years will make a big difference. Barb and Bill Sunday, April 3rd during 10:30 Worship

Pastor Tim pointed out that there is $12,000 in the maintenance budget. The Facilities/Grounds group should price out the items that need to be done. Suzy Baroud suggested that in the future we allocate money for the possible repair of our furnaces. Pastor Tim's Report - From his report, Pastor Tim emphasized his church visits. He believes that we have a good energy at ELC. Pastor Julie's Report - Pastor Tim, on behalf of Pastor Julie, distributed Not Your Parents' Offering Plate book to members, and charged us to read the book in the next two months. He wants us to highlight, write notes and reflect on the content. Council Business - The Council heard a concern displaying the American flag in the church. A guest of Annie's Kitchen donated a flag and wanted to have it displayed in the church. In the 1940's and 1950's flags were hung at the sides of the altar. After that, it went out of favor to display flags in the sanctuary. The Council heard a concerned member who wanted to have the donated flag displayed during Annie's Kitchen. 4 Learning Center News I am excited to share that we are running a full house! We have two new toddlers joining us this month, and with our baby room booming and toddlers graduating to preschool, we are moving and shaking at capacity! I hope to continue to build a healthy wait list, so keep telling people about our sweet Learning Center. Word of mouth is clearly our most successful form of marketing. The Learning Center is so pleased to have worked with ELC for the first time on the Easter Egg Hunt. What a fun event! We provided some age-appropriate activities in the Fellowship Hall for the children to do. I anticipate many years to come of this collaboration! If you participated in the Easter Egg Hunt at all, you may have noticed the flyer that was distributed to families regarding some upcoming opportunities for parent education. I am excited to be able to bring these workshops to our greater parenting community! Grandparents are welcome, too!! As the spring and summer months are upon us, I am placing some focus on our outdoor play space and on increased opportunities for healthy physical activity. Donations are trickling in for flowers and gardening supplies to liven up our outdoor areas. I am excited to get the children involved with this work. In addition to adding some color to the space, I am exploring some grants that may help us upgrade our outdoor play equipment a bit and add some new elements. And, I am exploring some curriculum ideas specific to nurturing healthy eating and physical activity. I will work with the teachers on choosing and implementing these ideas. If you have interest or expertise in any of these areas, I welcome your suggestions! If you should have questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask. You can stop by any time! Sometimes, I can be found in the infant room, but you may find me in my office which is also known as the room with a view. Or, I can be reached at lauren@edmondslutheran.org. May God bless and keep you. Gratefully, Lauren Leiker Pastor Tim Singing with the Kids Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand.
