1 14-Announcer July 2014 Page 1 District Governor s Message Dear Fellow Lions, Lionesses, and Leos, When you read this my partner Pat and I will be in Toronto attending the International Convention where I will be finishing up my training and begin serving as District Governor. As I begin my term as governor there are many exciting things happening not only in Lions but also in our own district. One of which is the merger of District R back into District A that will take place in July of As I am writing this I can tell you that Lions from both District A and District R have been working very hard to accomplish this procedure as smoothly as possible. This year s International President Joe Preston s theme is Strengthen the Prides and by doing so we will be able to expand our service to those who are in need the most. Finally both my partner Pat and I are looking forward to continue the work of past district governors and to see all the good work that the clubs in the district are doing. Remember: WE SERVE - It s the right thing to do. Yours in Lionism. District Governor Jim
2 July 2014 District 14-Announcer pg. 2 1st Vice District Governor Comments Thank you to IPDG Tony and Lucy for the Lions Year. The Chartering of the Yardley-Makefield Lions Club with 40 plus members this past April was a success. There were many meetings, s, phone calls to get the Club started. It was refreshing to meet so many that wanted to do for their community. I wish DG Jim and Pat a very successful Lions year I have enjoyed visiting Clubs with DG Tony and 1 st Vice District Governor Jim Davis. Enjoy hearing about all that great work that Clubs are doing in their community. Clubs have been sending their checks directly to PA Lions Beacon Lodge not to the County Chairperson. This has caused some problems with our campers. The money is not going to the correct camper or our District. Lions Appreciation Day at PA Lions Beacon Lodge is Sunday, July 20. There will be tours of the camp, chicken lunch, dunk tank, Christmas in July basket raffle. There will be great entertainment by the campers.
