1 Board of Directors Robert Bianchi President Inspire others with your story. Program: May 11th Conlon/Rothschild Awards Steve Stanley and Tammie Helmuth Tim Weaver President-Elect Mike Murphy Past President Program: May 4th RYLA Greg Kusnierek Secretary Trevor Tyloch Youth Service Barbara Cornwall Community Service Marc Feigen Director-At-Large Meghan Lopez Vocational Service Bob Lewis Club Service David Stowell International Service David Masci Foundation Chair John Bradley Treasurer Karen Furnari Family of Rotary EX-OFFICIO Mike Hebert Executive Secretary Larry Baker Executive Treasurer Darin Arrasmith has been involved with RYLA for 13 years and spoke on his passion for the program and positive life-altering impact it has on kids from high schools all over the District and around the world. Sending a student to RYLA for the small clubs can take a huge chunk out of their budget since the clubs pay 100% of the fees, but the impact it makes on the students is priceless. Students from prior years are now coming back as counselors. One of the prior students who is about to graduate from college is now a RYLA instructor. Her life changed forever when she listened to a keynote speaker regarding NASA. She now has a job at JPL. RYLA changed her life. The experience instills the spirit of giving. Darin noted that next year, RYLA will be held on April 19th. Felix Wang has been involved with RYLA for 7 years. It has shown him how important it is to support youth as they are our future. Many kids come back as leaders because of RYLA. They become Interactors, Rotaractors, and Rotarians. Felix introduced the students our Club sponsored : Daniella (LaReina), Paul Noon (TO High), Drew Principe (Viewpoint), Hanna Arrasmith (Oaks Christian). Only Hanna and Drew were able to be present. Daniella and Paul expressed their awe at the program in videos. It was noted that Paul was following in his brother Bernie s footsteps (Bernie, whom we also sponsored for RYLA earlier, died last year in an accident). Hannah and Drew shared with us all they gained and thanked everyone for sponsoring them, as the experience was life-changing. 1

Felix Wang introduced visiting Rotarians Marilyn Lippiatt from Westlake Sunrise, Haus Korsimo and Jim Williams from Westlake Noon, and Nicki Richardson from Camarillo. He also introduced Meghan Lopez s guest Travis Stetsens, and former member Tony Principe, father of one of the speakers. President Bianchi received thank you notes from the students who we sponsored for RYLA. All were forever changed and enriched by their experience. He asked all women members present to stand and they were applauded by the group. County Supervisor Steve Bennett announced Corn Hole Competition Charity Night benefitting foster youth graduating on from the system. They are most at risk. 3 HERE WE ARE At least some of the many who made the day so great! 3
4 HAPPY $$$$$ Tanya Caliguiri carried the cup. Tanya thanked Tammie Helmuth for setting up and manning the entrance/ticket sales booths. Lots of tables. Lots of cashiers. And most importantly, tents for shade from the boiling sun! We processed everybody so quickly and efficiently, that there was rarely any line; and longest was probably less than one minute. Tanya also thanked her for drilling a hole in my K9 s for Warriors medal, so I can now wear it around my neck. Steve Boggs put $44 in the cup to celebrate 44years of marriage. Meghan Lopez recommended hats off to Marissa and Nelson for leading the Chili Cook-Off committee. She was sorry to have missed it for the first year ever. Instead she finally got to reveal with friends and family that her first little one is going to be a Girl. ;o) Steve Pederson expressed thanks to K.T. for personaly bringing him food and drink at 4pm from the volunteer tent. He had spent 6 hours of selling tickets without a break, so he was unable to get to the volunteer tent or even a food truck. Nelson Buss gave a shout out to Nate Harimoto, Tammi Helmuth, and Marissa Buss for donating their sponsor locations at the Chili Cook Off to local charities who were able to raise their own profiles in the community and find new supporters. Those charities included veterans groups K-9 for Warriors and Rolling Thunder, as well as the CV Little League. Pat Paulucci praised Marissa and Nelson for a successful Chili Cook Off! Richard Williams thanked all who participated in Beer Booth One and especially Trevor Tryloch, his assistant captain. Natalie Yanez welcomed Niki Richardson, a visiting Rotarian, she acclaimed Nelson, who graciously offered the VCCU staff person his folding chair during the Chili Cook-Off, and she thanked the entire CCO committee for an excellent event. K.T. Connor encouraged members to consider going to the Rotary Convention in Atlanta next month. If anyone needed a hotel room nearer the convention, she had a room for her long-time Rotarian sister that she found she had to cancel. There was still time to change the name on the reservation to someone in the club. FINE SESSION Tony Kourounis donned a huge Sombrero to quiz about jokes that portray ethnic humor and that still were acceptable sort of. Those fined were Martin Anderson, Jennifer Schwabauer, Herb Gooch, Jeff Borenstein, and Felix Masci. WE RE STILL DOING IT! Still just 5 polio cases this year. The last case listed in February. 4
