He was the perfect guest speaker as we celebrated Saint Patrick s Day. He and his wife came dressed significantly appropriate to the day with hats and bling enhancing the wearing of the green John shared his journey to California from Northern Ireland in the 60 s as he sought work and soon became enmeshed in the entertainment newspaper world. He told stories of his early California days, presented with humor and heart. He ended the program with a favorite poem, made all the more engaging by his brogue. He was indeed a sharer of the spirit of Ireland. 1

2 Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks Meeting March 17, 2016 President and Irishman Michael Murphy welcome all the green-garbed and highly spirited club members and guests to celebrate St. Patrick s Day on the very day of the meeting. He then introduced Steven Stanley to share the Moment of Inspiration, and Dan Overton to lead us in American the Beautiful. Carol Freeman then introduced visiting Rotarians Marilyn Lippiatt, Hank Korsmo, and Margo White, all from Westlake Sunrise club. She then introduced Michael Murphy, Jr. and Leslie Murphy, guests of President Mike Murphy, Sr., Beth Mendiaz and Kathleen Inman, guests of Jeff Borenstein; Betty Awarez Han, guest of Robert Bianchi; Jon Andersen, guest of new inductee Colleen Andersen; Carol Fredericks and Andrea Moxley, guests of Dave Wender; Kathy Lewis, guest of Bob Lewis; Nicki Richardson, guest of Jesus Torres; and Michelle Nash, guest of Carol Freeman. Toasting the Day! Induction of New Member President Mike introduced new member Holly Andersen, sponsored by Sharon Renshall and shared with the club some insight into who Holly was. Holly s husband accompanied her and stood by her side wwhile Mike inducted her into the club. Holly then thanked the club for accepting her and praised the club for the work it has done in the community and beyond. 2

3 Announcements Nate Harimoto noted that slips were on the tables to enter the names we would suggest for the dogs area Rotarians had procured for the K9s for Warriors charity. Pat McCoy reminded members about the Economic Forecast at CLU, which is being put on by the Rotary Club. Program: March 31st THE HEALTHY SPINE Doctor K. (Sevak) Happy Passover חג פסח כשר ושמח Happy Easter Ed Jones thanked members for sponsoring him for Crop Walk. Robert Bianchi asked members to stop and fill out communication surveys on tables. Margo White from the Westlake Sunrise club invited members to come to their Jazz and Wine Festival on 4/17.
