The first thing I learned was that Lincoln and south east in Lancaster County does NOT sit over the aquifier! The management of our water resources for agriculture and human consumption now and in the future is becoming much more complicated. Both Larry and our Milt appear to be very focused on the proper and respective guidance of our water resources under us in Nebraska. We truly are blessed here in Nebraska. All those critics of the past that said that Nebraska was a waste land are turly sorry now. It appears that Nebraska alone is going to produce crops for the future of our State, Country and world beyond belief. It is very pressing that all interested parties are willing to negotiate the needed controls to guarantee the success of all the competing interests for this wonderful asset - Water. You can see the drought from last year. Nebraska was in the worst condition nation wide. After a wonderful heaven sent season of rain fall, the picture of the aquifer map shows that the northern area, Nebraska, is all clear (white). We are so blessed. Managing our water resources is not very logical when our useage is our only input. Availability is far beyond our control. This was a great program from Rotarians Larry Ruth and Milt Schmidt. There is a Club Board Meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday, January 9th at Gordon Bair s home (6000 Culwells Road 68516) at 6:00 PM. Board Members are expected and Club members are welcome. Join Gordon in learning of our club s future plans. John Garrison spoke to the need for Rotarians to bring your check books to Rotary on December 4th and 11th. We will be passing the basket for Salvation Army s Holiday Food Basket for Lincoln s hungry parents, children and the homeless. Last year we donated $1,081. It is common knowledge that food prices have increased as well as the numbers of these needy people. During this Season of Great Joy please find it in your hearts to open your checkbook a write a check to the Lincoln East Rotary Foundation with Salvation Army in the memo section.
