3 E.C.W. Luncheon There were 17 women who met at Turning Pointe, Wednesday, May 23rd, for a tour, which was led by Deb Dunithan, Deputy Director. We first gathered in the conference room where she explained the program & history of the facility. Some facts given were: Turning Pointe is the 3rd largest facility in the state; Victims of Domestic Violence only are accepted; a 24 hour call line; approximately 900 calls per year; in 2016 there were 352 residents including 108 children; a client can only stay 90 days & they are able to bring their pets; volunteer board of 5-11 members; operating funds come from federal, state, various corporations, tribal, donations & fundraisers. They are always looking for volunteers to help with various duties within the facility, plus they accept food items, clothes, etc. We also heard from a former client, who has returned to college for a degree, is raising a special needs son & now is employed by Turning Pointe. We were all very impressed with her & wished her the best in the future. After the tour, 19 ladies met at Sisters Restaurant in Shelton for a tasty lunch in their private banquet room. Everyone was pleased with their selections, plus the waitress was very efficient serving all of us. It was an interesting & fun day! 3

It's really not too early to start planning on that special item(s) that we could use for the sale. Once we're through with the Patio Sale, we will be gathering ideas for this event which will be Saturday, November 3rd! Let us know what ideas you might have. Connie & Wilma 5
