2 Thank you Robin! This is not a sad article of farewell, but rather one of gratitude, love and honor. The Rev. Robin Moore has been serving the Diocese of Olympia and the mission church of St. Hugh, Allyn and for several years, St. Nicholas, Tahuya for 25+ years. During the time, she was our vicar, she ministered to us in so many loving and compassionate ways.she was our spiritual compass, teacher, mentor, confessor, reconciler, facilitator, and our connection with the Diocese of Olympia and the greater church. Robin could always be counted on to provide sound, thoughtful and Scripture-based guidance. I have been blessed to have had Robin as my gentle guide as I began my spiritual journey as an adult. She baptized me in 1992 and then performed the marriage ceremony for Barry and me in I was blessed to work with her closely when I served as senior warden in When I was called to the Circle to begin the education process, she facilitated our classes and meetings. She then took on the role of Missioner for the Diocese which meant she traveled from Allyn to Cathlamet and small towns along the way to facilitate a new way of being church. Robin introduced Total Common Ministry (TCM) to St. Hugh in 1994 as a way that we could develop the congregation according to their specific gifts, look toward building a new church (the building we now occupy) and continue to have our spiritual needs met regarding rich liturgy, sacraments and adult education. This would be fulfilled by calling from the congregation future priests, deacons and support persons and then training them according to the Diocesan approved curriculum. She instilled in us the concept of looking outward for opportunities for outreach to our community, rather than looking inward and only concentrating on the needs in our small congregation. She taught those of us serving in priestly and diaconal roles the presence, reverence and sanctity which honors our liturgical tradition. After new clergy were ordained to serve at St. Hugh Robin tried to retire, several times, but we drew her back, and she always served us faithfully. Well, Robin has finally really retired and she made the difficult and heart-wrenching decision to sell the beautiful house that she and her husband Dick built in 1994 and to move to Burien to be closer to her two sons, David and Joshua. We were all heartsick to think of St. Hugh without Robin, and yet we honored her decision that it was time to turn a page and start a new chapter. I m an avid reader and I know that beginning a new chapter is always exciting and filled with anticipation at what will happen next. And so it is with life. At first, when Robin told me she was going to put the house on the market, I inwardly panicked. Then I began to realize that except for Sunday, I really didn t see Robin all that much in person, but we talked on the phone and ed frequently and we could do that whether she was in Grapeview, Burien or New York City. On 28 May, we had a lovely party after church to wish Robin well in her new home and city. I recently saw Robin at a function in Des Moines and she looked wonderful.rested, happy and with a bounce in her step. The decision which I know was difficult for Robin to make I think was the right one for this time in her life. She loves her condo and Jennie has settled in nicely to the new sounds and smells of city living. Robin will always be a part of St. Hugh whether she is physically present or not. Her loving spirit suffuses what we do and who we are. Robin has been the wind beneath so many pairs of wings here as we learned to fly, and we honor the legacy she started so many years ago. Thank you Robin, we love you! Faithfully, Vicki+ 2

4 Yard Clean up Party On Saturday, 24 June, a number of parishioners of St.Hugh showed up at 9:00 am armed with yard tools, gloves, and determination to help groom the grounds of our church. The focus was to rid the yard of weeds, prune shrubs and generally spruce up the place in anticipation of the Master Gardener s Garden Tour on 8 July. St. Hugh will be one of the stops on the Garden Tour. We love our grounds and believe that the yard is every bit as sacred as the sanctuary. We find God wherever we are, inside or out. We worked until around 11:30 when we took a break for a delicious lunch that several workers provided. We sort of picked our spot and began working to leave it in better shape than when we arrived that morning. Peggy Wylie coordinated the work party, and we thank her for getting us energized! Peggy, Donna Fisher and Betty LaVigne worked in the community garden general area. Gail Daun and I worked on the east and north side of the church, pulling weeds and trimming shrubs. Roy Ferguson and Connie worked in the front of the church near the drive way. Ginna Liebergesell and Rev. Sylvia Haase worked to clean up the lovely cement fountain that Ginna donated several years ago. They cleaned the pavers on which it sits as well as the fountain itself. Rev. Jim Neal was working in several areas and Robbin Dunn worked in the front of the church as well as other areas. Barry Betsinger was all over the place with his weed burner contraption burning the dead weeds that had been sprayed previously with Weed-B-Gone. Sunny Cotey was not able to come in the morning, but arrived shortly after lunch and worked in the yard also. When JoAnna Meyer came to church on Sunday she was amazed at how great everything looked and she went all around the yard taking pictures of the grounds for future publications no doubt. The clean-up was definitely a church community project and a big thank you to all who were able to participate. I hope I did not omit any names of yard workers, if I did it was certainly not intentional. Thanks again Peggy for getting us organized. Faithfully, Vicki+ 4
