3 18 3 Women s Association News Hello again Ladies (Gentlemen, please share with your lady) Often September is still quite warm but hopefully, trending toward cooler days. It will be nice to see all of you and especially those who have been able to travel and enjoy relaxing activities. Now is the time, as Fall approaches, that we need to formulate a schedule for the months ahead as we plan for our fundraisers.. ( Don t worry, no heavy labor is involved ) Please come join us on the third floor for our meeting while the men are in their meeting. When they ring the gong it will be our signal that they have adjourned and we will be able to join them and depart for the evening. Remember, carpooling is fun, so please try to pick up a member or two to join us for the various activities of the evening. See you soon! Lynda Lockhart President Brethren, Thomas R. Waite, 32 KSA Master of Kadosh Consistory As the 2016 year continues forward we can not forget our past, and past brethren. Let us all remember those Brothers who have influenced us, and our Masonic heritage. I am presently working on an event night to help subsidize the worthy beneficial endeavor. This event if successful could possibly become an annual event, but as well as benefits to the learning center it is also a way for all of us to invite Brethren from our lodges to see our Brotherhood at the Pasadena Scottish Rite. We have scheduled this for next year around July. It should be a great night full of fun and benefiting our Pasadena Childhood learning center. In closing I would like to put a shout out to all our brethren. I have been a member of the Pasadena Valley almost ten years now, and out of the 800+ members I have probably met 250 of you. I would love to meet all of you. So please come on down for a good night of fellowship and Brotherhood. Warm regards, Thomas Waite Donate today

4 4 17 The Secretary s Memo Pad Ill. William F. Rook, 33º As you can see from the above table here is the status of the Pasadena Scottish Rite and the membership dues. Presently the rates are as follows: Under age times annual dues or $ to 54 inclusive - 19 times annual dues $ to 59 inclusive - 17 times annual dues $ t0 64 inclusive - 14 times annual dues $ and over - 11 times annual dues $ Beginning on January 1, 2017 the cost increases substantially as follows: September Dinner Menu Stated Meeting on September 9th Appetizer Tray Wedge Salad with Ranch Dressing Tri-Tip Mashed Potatoes Vegetable Medley Carrot Cake Last Day for reservations: Wednesday, September 7th at 2pm Number of Reservations at $15.00 Per Person... 6 6 15 The P.R. s Corner Ill. Rees Padfield, 33º Here we are at September, summer over, and it is still hot and humid. Our Pasadena Scottish Rite is healthy and well respected around the state, oops Orient, I mean. Our fall reunion will be in October rather than November because of scheduling reasons. The dates are the 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd. Please remember your fifth obligation in the 32nd degree, and you will attend the reunion to show your support to the Pasadena Scottish Rite. It would be nice to have as many Brothers in the audience as there are candidates. We had an additional evaluation made to determine if several of our ceilings, which have peeling paint, contain lead paint. They do. The good news is that the remediation is relative simple and will not require the building to be evacuated and should take very little time. Also, we received the seismic study of our building and the results indicate that the building meets the required codes. Your Cathedral Association is very active in maintaining the building and has plans in place for improvements for safety and energy reductions. Director of Membership Continued From Page 14 Our future plans are to expand and customize the VMAP section with Pasadena specific news and updates about our progress in reaching VMAP status for But the internet, important as it is, is not a substitute for human contact. We have a reunion in October, and I urge everyone to reach out to your blue lodge and bring us candidates. It is true that we are in a competition for the limited spare time of our brethren. Brothers often face a choice between us, work, other Masonic groups, civic organizations, school, church and family functions. However, I believe Pasadena Scottish Rite offers a beautiful experience that no other group can offer, and in that regard, we are in a league of our own with no competition. Indeed, Scottish Rite will make us better in all these other spheres of life. Please visit the VMAP tab on the website as it has many ideas that will enlighten and inspire you. Hopefully, all this translates into creating more candidates and more participation among current members. I am here to serve you. I welcome your comments and feedback. Feel free to contact me at sdklein2005@yahoo.com Steven Klein Chairman Valley Membership Achievement Project The Childhood Language Center Board is actively working to secure the funding that will be required starting next July for the operation of the Center. The Knights are planning a large event this fall and the Masters of the Lodges are also in the planning stages for special events to assist in the funding for the Language Center. When these events are announced, please make every effort to support them as the profits go to the Center. Your home Blue Lodges are always invited also. 7 14 7 Director of Membership Steven D. Klein, 32º KCCH Valley Membership Achievement Project Report On August 1st, our Valley took a big step forward in advancing VMAP - Valley Masonic Achievement Project. VMAP information is no longer limited to my brief remarks at our stated meetings or in a short column in our monthly bulletin. Now the program, in its entirety, is available on the Pasadena Scottish Rite website, 24/7. The P.R. s Corner Continued... for any unneeded men s, women s, or children s clothing you have either outgrown, or no longer need; Also, toiletries, children s books and toys. They are all needed. If you will bring them to the November Stated Meeting we will store them here for pickup by the Midnight Mission which occurs at the Service Bureaus breakfast on Sunday, November 6th. As you look forward to Labor Day, please remember that our men and women in the Armed Forces, whithersoever deployed, do not get the day off for BBQ and fun. Remember them as well as our protectors here at home in your prayers. The dress for the September Stated Meeting will again be casual. Relax and enjoy. By taking this bold step, we have enhanced and elevated the Project s exposure. The entire VMAP program is online. Any officer or member can check out the VMAP program at their own convenience, pace and anywhere they can connect with the internet. Creating a VMAP tab on the website is consistent with one of the many fine presentations we saw at the regional VMAP conference in Scottsdale, AZ. One presentation stressed the importance of finding ways to reach out to millennials using the internet. Posting VMAP online goes a long way to implement this recommendation. VMAP is a key program of the Supreme Council. We are among a small number of Valleys to put VMAP online. The action to take VMAP online to pasadenascottishrite.org shows the high level of importance that our Valley places on this program. Please visit the VMAP tab (and all the other sections) of our website. Many thanks to our Personal Representative, Illustrious Rees Padfield; General Secretary, Illustrious Bill Rook, for their kind support and special thanks to Sir Knight Ron Alcorn, KCCH, for his technical expertise in posting the VMAP program.
