1 First Vol 43...Issue 9...June The mission of First United Methodist Church: To see Christ in every person we encounter and demonstrate to them the love of God and the teachings of Jesus. Greetings from David Dear Fellow Ministers, God is continuing to do great things through First United Methodist Church! Thank you for all you do to make Christ s love known in so many ways. Most importantly, thank you for your prayers for our church. Our Program Staff is currently reading and working through a book, Pray The Price, that reminds us of the centrality of prayer in the life of the church. It is significant that each bulletin of our church lists a Circle of Prayer for us to pray through together. We are a very busy church, but it is always our intention that the basis for all we do is our common prayer life. In that spirit, I would ask us to pray for our worship experiences coming up in June. We always work hard to plan worship that is uplifting, challenging, loving, and that honors God. Please be in prayer, and read through the appropriate scripture texts, for: June 7 (Graduating Senior Recognition) II Corinthians 4:13-5:1 June 14 (New Member Sunday) Mark 4:26-34 June 21 (Special Speakers) June 28 Mark 5:21-43 We will be away at Annual Conference June We invite your prayers for this great event at Lake Junaluska. This year we will be electing delegates for the General (10 Clergy and 10 Lay Persons) and Jurisdictional (10 more Clergy and 10 more Lay Persons) Conferences. Please keep the Annual Conference and the members from our church in your prayers. They are: Lay Members John Wixson, Carol Sudyk, Bill Sudyk, Dan Moser; District At-Large Lay Members Eleanor Wixson, Jane Smith, James Smith, Mark Skillestad, Skip McPhail, Tripp Hord, Becky Greene, Jesse Caldwell; Clergy Members Saxon Scarborough, Jim Westmoreland, Ashley Anne Lloyd, and David Christy. I look forward to being in mission and ministry with you this month! In Christ s Service, David in this issue TAKE NOTE WAYS TO CONNECT CALENDAR EVENTS AND NEWS FAMILY FUN NIGHT

VBS 2015-Save the Dates Sunday, August 2-Wednesday, August 5 5:30-8 p.m., Dinner provided. FUMC Preschool Graduation You Can Be Confident!! A poem for the Preschool Class of 2015 We give you back your child now, the same child you entrusted to our care last fall. We give them back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible and more mature than they were then. Although they would have attained this in spite of us, it has been our happy privilege to watch their personality unfold day by day and marvel at each new achievement, each new success, each new expansion of self. We give them back reluctantly; for having spent 1 year, together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, we have become part of each other and shall always retain a little part of each other. We have shared, danced, laughed, cried, played, cooked, discovered, painted, we sang and prayed together this year. We wish it could go on indefinitely, but give them back we must. Take care of them for they are precious and only one of a kind. Remember the we shall always be interested in your child and their destiny, wherever they go, whatever they do, whoever they become. Thank you, for sharing your wonderfully made child with us! Newsletter articles must be submitted via by 9 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month prior to publication for the following month. your submission to Amanda, amanda@fumcgastonia.org.
