The kids will learn that Jesus love is one-of-akind. They will hear weird animals telling amazing stories of Jesus, sing energetic songs, and do crazy experiments. This is a wonderful week of fun and adventure for your kids or grandkids. St. Patrick Catholic Church is hosting this year s VBS for kids Kindergarten-5th grade. Registration forms are in the entryway or you can call Ellen Lovell at or St. Patrick Church office at WHAT CAN WE SAY? THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! CWF On both days of our yearly Yard & Bake Sale we were showered with welcomed sunshine which was a blessing from above. The sunshine helped, but the major contribution for our success was due to our church member s donations and the many hours of preparation by the C.W.F. ladies and the men who helped us. We wish to take this opportunity to express our THANKS TO ALL who brought and bought the many items. Without your help and interest, the C.W.F. would not be able to hold this event and continue our "Mission of Helping," to support not only our church, but to other needy local organizations. The total this year was as follows: Bakery $ Yard Sale $ 2, TOTAL $ 2, In addition, the Quilt Raffle is an ongoing project and tickets are available until the day of the drawing at the November 16 Fellowship Dinner. Also, Please keep in mind, C.W.F. is continuing to collect the Best Choice UPC labels on all Best Choice products. We receive $30 for each 1000 UPCs we send in and, in addition, they send an additional $30 for participating in this project. Please save them and turn them in at the church office. Again, THANK YOU. 2 From Your Carroll Rinker Greetings Everyone, I was outside walking the church grounds today wondering what in the world are we going to do? I realized we only have parking spaces for 198 vehicles. What are we going to do? The 198 spaces doesn t include parking space for the 4-6 buses we need in our ministries. What are we going to do? And if there is an average of two people in every car that would almost bring our sanctuary to full capacity. What are we going to do? All of the classrooms are being used and we re running out of space. What are we going to do? And with that many people we don t have enough room in the Loehr Center to seat everyone for fellowship dinners. What are we going to do? You re probably asking yourself, What is wrong with the Pastor? Nothing. I was just looking to the future of West Lake Christian Church and what our options might be as we outgrow our facilities. Donald Trump said, I like thinking big. If you're going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big. I like that statement. We serve a big God. The temperature is up, my flowers are up, the traffic on the roads is up. Our attendance is up and we have added new members to our congregation. And we have had some wonderful opportunities to showcase our church in the community. The yearly Yard Sale hosted by CWF brought in visitors who were able to see what a caring, friendly and sharing group of people attend West Lake Christian Church. A lot of people worked hard to bake, bring in, sort and clean items for sale. Everybody wins when we can clean out unwanted or unneeded items which other people can use. It is a time to get to know other people in the church that we may just say hello to on Sunday. It was great to see all the smiling faces on the days of the sale. The money earned at this sale is an important part of our outreach and mission contributions. Thank you to all who contributed items, worked at the sale or purchased items. All of you were a necessary part of the success of the sale. We also showcase our church when groups like the Lake Area Community Orchestra perform at our facility. The orchestra consists of people from the greater lake area, even as far away as Kirksville, who are impressed by the quality of our building. The people who attend from the community are equally impressed. It is important that our congregation support these events by attending and greeting others from the community. Kelly did a great job of representing our church by his greeting of attendees at the door and passing out the programs. His opening statements made the orchestra and audience feel welcome. But more church members are needed to reinforce the effort that Kelly exerts. And if you talk to a church member who attended I believe they will tell you that the music was worth the time to come. Wednesday night Supper and Soul is another important opportunity. A great group of people are attending each Wednesday but it is primarily from our present congregation. Have you invited a neighbor or a friend to come? Have you talked about it out in the community? There are many people who work on Sunday mornings or who have not found what they want in a traditional worship service. They will only find out about this great worship time if those who attend talk it up in the community. All of us in this congregation are a family, albeit, a large family, and we need to attend family events. Come join together with other family members in the worship of God and service to the community. God grant us love. God grant us grace. God grant us peace. God grant us service. Amen

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an auto immune disease where the nerves of the brain and spinal cord become damaged by a person s own immune system. Sclerosis (scar tissue) develops on the brain/spinal cord and then destroys the myelin (protective/insulating cover on the nerves). This then causes a disruption of the electrical signals through the brain/spinal cord. STATISTICS Affects about 400,000 Americans The second most frequent cause of neurological disability starting in early to middle adulthood Occurs more frequently in females SYMPTOMS Early Muscle weakness in one or more limbs Decreased coordination Blurred or hazy vision Eye pain Double vision Loss of balance Tingling/numbness Multiple Sclerosis Page 3 LRHS Parish Nurse Network Wellness Tip of the Month SYMPTOMS Later Muscle stiffness (spasticity) Pain Difficulty controlling urination Problems with cognition (impaired thinking) Slurred speech Sudden onset of paralysis Fatigue DIAGNOSIS/TREATMENT If you or someone you know has these symptoms and are in the early to middle adult stages of life, make an appointment to see your doctor. He may refer you to a neurologist or do tests to determine if you have MS. MS is a chronic, progressive disease, but medication may slow down the frequency and severity of attacks, which can decrease future disabilities. Resource-

To date we have served over 3,500 uninsured, low income Lake area residents who would have gone without care. Thank you for your financial support. Your donation helps pay for the supplies and equipment our patients need, allowing our volunteers to stay focused on the work of our ministry. Applicants are required to show proof of residency and documentation of income. They cannot have any health insurance. Applicants are interviewed personally to meet our guidelines. All our doctors, dentists, nurses and clerical workers are volunteers. Only two part-time persons are paid. There are many ways you can help Medical Missions for Christ: volunteering to work, donating office supplies, or giving financially. We receive no government funding and do not charge patients for services. All funding is provided by grants, donations from individuals, churches, civic organizations and foundations. There are brochures on the table in the entryway with more information about Medical Missions for Christ. Please pick one up and read about the many ways you can support this local mission. Page 8
