1 The Sentinel Dear Brothers, September 2016 Volume 23 Issue 9 All Saint s Council #4240 Menomonee Falls, WI GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE: Recently after Pope Francis's visit to Poland he took time and reflected on the world and it's current state. The young people, he said, gave a sign of hope, and this sign is called fraternity. He added that in this world at war, we need fraternity; we need closeness; we need dialogue; we need friendship. And this is the sign of hope: when there is fraternity. You can read more at I found this rather striking. I caught this on FM/1640 AM Relevant radio during a news report. For Catholics, the Knights of Columbus is that fraternity. We are very blessed to have such an organization that stands for our faith, culture of life, and protecting our families and church. As a council we can build up hope in our churches, families, and community. We need to promote this message of fraternity from Pope Francis and invite more men and their families into our council to build our faith and families together. I am proud to announce that Father John Burns from St. Mary's is officially our Chaplin. I look forward to having his guidance and faith working in our council. I would like to thank all my brothers that Helped out at the Good Shepherd Corn Roast and the St. Agnes festival. The parishes are very appreciative of your donation of time and talents for their events. We are blessed to have 3 new members join our council this month. We potentially have four more joining next month! I will be looking to schedule a 2nd and 3rd degree in mid November. On September 17th we will be building a new sleigh at the clubhouse at 9 am. I have the frame built, but need your creative ideas to finish the build. October 2nd will be our Pancake Breakfast/membership drive at St. Mary's. October 8th is our Past Grand Knight's Steak Dinner. Please RSVP with Brothers Don McInnes or Mike Salomone. Our Memorial Mass with be on October 30th at 8:00 am at St. Mary's. Turkey Shoot will be on Friday November 4th at 7:00 pm. I am looking for people to help me coordinate this event. We'll have a Turkey Shoot meeting on September 16th at 7:00 pm. All in all things are looking great this year so far! Let's carry the momentum going forward. Thank you all for your support and dedication! Vivat Jesus, Mike Elmer Grand Knight Knight of the Month: Tom Lutz Tom has been a wonderful addition to our council. Tom has really jumped in and got involved with whatever he can. Tom has stepped up to fill positions both as an officer and on the corporation board. Tom has helped out in numerous event's and is finding ways for the corporation to save a few dollars on supplies. I appreciate Tom's drive, willingness, and dedication to our council. Thank you Tom for all that you do for us! Family of the Month: Andy and Heather Wiesner Andy and Heather are a strong faith driven couple working to Evangelize young adults and strengthen the future of our parishes. Being committee members of the Catalyst young adults group, they bring people together stoking the fires of faith in them. They help coordinate social gatherings, Theology on Tap, and faith based book studies. The world needs more couples that are being disciples of Christ and spreading the word, joy, and love of the Gospel. I thank you for your works and building of faith in these difficult religious times. 1

2 Council Notes Hello Members, I need your help and it is not heavy of a task could all members me a update of your personal information. I know you say hey I been living in this place for the last 5 years, but KC's did not get any update for the last 5 years. Telephone numbers home phone did you drop it because you now have a cell phone, now this is a big problem you now have been with a certain company you provide the KC's with it but people changes their Company so often and we do not get any new numbers. 5 Dear Brother Knight, Early this February you were introduced to the Corporation s Capitol Needs campaign. I am pleased to report that just over $ 35, has been raised since the drive began. In addition to the cash donations we have secured continuing pledges toward our objective. This is a great start but we need all of our members to respond. A committee, consisting of Brother Knights Dave Glisczinski, Tim Donlin, Jim Dwyer, George Schroder, Michael Krawzcyk, and Mike Vosen were assigned to research the needs of the club house. They recently reported to the Corporation Board the cost associated with enhancing and repairing the exterior of the clubhouse and our grounds. These include new windows, doors, and siding, which will ensure that our building blends into the updated community that surrounds our neighborhood. Please take into account that these improvements are not merely a cosmetic wish but a need due to a rotting exterior. The Corporation has discussed the proposed updates but need a financial commitment from our membership before proceeding with the work. The exterior updates will cost approximately $ 70, Thanks to those who have already provided support. As you can see we need some generous benefactors to supplement the shortage. Now is the time to send in your donations so we can proceed with exterior repairs. A rendering of those plans are at the clubhouse so you can review the exciting new look. You can also follow the progress of our campaign by reviewing the promotional thermometer now posted at the clubhouse. Let s get the mercury to rise. Without the active participation of our membership these improvements cannot proceed without forcing the Corporation to seek securing a loan and creating a liability. We need your donations! Please consider what you can do to help. Rick Plumley Corporation President Long-Term Care Plans Offer Peace of Mind Insurance Notes Since its addition to the Order s product portfolio in 2000, long-term care (LTC) insurance has provided the Knights of Columbus with an excellent opportunity to further serve members and their families. And, for our long-term care policy holders in the United States, there s an added bonus. It s called Provider Pathway, a program offering access to a network of long-term care providers at discounted rates. The network includes discounts on products, such as hearing aids, diabetic supplies, personal emergency response systems, and durable medical equipment, as well as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and adult day care. Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of Columbus long-term care insurance policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. All providers are fully credentialed and meet state licensing requirements. If you haven t yet spoken with me about long-term care insurance, you owe it to yourself to do so. There are a few decisions to make in choosing a plan a comprehensive plan that covers care whether you re at home or in a facility, or one that covers facility only; daily benefit amounts and benefit durations (how much and how long it will last); and the length of the elimination period (waiting period) before benefits kick-in. Having a professionally trained agent and a brother Knight you can trust to help guide you through the process is yet another valuable benefit that comes with your membership. Take advantage of it; contact me today. Fraternally, Vic Johnson, FICF, LUTCF (262) vic.johnson@kofc.org 5

He said he was involved in many Parish ministries, and teaching religion class in the parish school. He said that it was an incredible experience for him. He is very excited to continue his studies at St. Joseph College Seminary in Chicago this year. He also thanked us for our support.
