We have our last brunch for the year on Palm Sunday March 29 th with proceeds being split between the Council and Church. April brings the Fourth Degree Exemplification on Saturday April 18 th in Brooklyn Park. All Fourth Degree Knights from our Council should consider attending this. We have four 3 rd Degree Knights going to this Exemplification to become Sir Knights. We are providing hot dogs and chips for the Epiphany School Literacy night on April 9 th. Our general meeting on April 16 th we will be nominating Officers for the 2015/2016 Council year, if you would like to become an Officer for the Council throw your hat in the ring. My time as an Officer in many positions has been a very rewarding experience. Maybe this opportunity is waiting for you? Tootsie roll weekend will be on April 24 th, 25 th and 26 th. We have 3 sites this year, Cub Foods on Round Lake Blvd., Walmart on Bunker Lake Blvd, and the Foley Blvd Liquor Store. If you are called please consider volunteering for this event. The contact for the Tootsie Roll's is Brian Owens DGK This is a very fun and rewarding experience. We had a wonderful experience at the Pizza Ranch on March 2 nd. We had 13 Knights there to clean tables, run special pizzas, greet customers and help with final cleanup. Thank you to all that helped with this event. We received $ from tips and 10% of the proceeds of the night. We will be looking at doing this again in the future. As of April 1st, I will starting my 5th year in this capacity. It seems like forever ago when I joined in Let us discern what is happening now. It s April, so March Madness is coming to an abrupt ending with determining the NCAA champions for Did you participate in a pickem tournament? I did, and as of today, my Elite 8 are still all there (3/23/15). I m hoping to reach the championship, as I want to help your family reach its championship. As the tournament relates to our lives, our families, and children, and parents, we need to be prepared. We want April 2015 to be the opportunity for you and our family to take a giant leap in protecting and securing your family. As Knights, we serve Father McGivney s vision to ensure family security. April is a great month to meet with me as your brother Knight as well as your field agent and discuss the many possibilities of benefits that you have available to you. Don t let the KCC down, take a few minutes to fit in a call or make a schedule adjustment. You may need to ask another KCC member to help you when you are in overload. 3 Council Events Springfest Steak Dinner Brother Knights and Ladies: The Knights of Columbus has agreed to host the Epiphany Springfest Steak Dinner again this year. The dinner will be on Saturday, May 16 from 4:30 7:00 p.m. We will need approximately 26 volunteers for this event. Most will work from 4:008:00 p.m. However, we will need six to work from 2:008:00 p.m. If you are planning on volunteering for some activity at Springfest this year, please consider the KC Steak Dinner. Sign ups will start in midapril in the church foyer and online. Please use the online sign up system if at all possible as the system will automatically notify one when all openings are filled. Everybody enjoyed themselves, especially when we made it deuces wild for the last half hour. Please feel free to drop in on one of our Poker Nights to watch or participate. The next two Poker Nights are March 26th and April 30th. We play for one hour and the first deal is at 7:00pm. 4 Page 4 Council Events cont. General Meeting Highlights A thank you note was sent to Pizza Ranch. Volunteers for the Epiphany School Literacy Night should arrive at 3:30 to set up. Brian Owens will be calling over the next couple of weeks to arrange volunteers for the Tootsie Roll Drive. Gary Vorpahl and Brian Owens were approved as the delegates for the 4 th Degree convention. BJ Meyerring and Dave Jones were approved as alternates. George Olson just moved into a new apartment and is in need of furniture. Bob Mathewson will be coordinating the Steak Fry for the general meeting in May. The meal will likely include steaks, salad, potatoes and beverages. Knights attending will need to pay in advance. Look for details on costs, etc. in next month. Happy Spring!! It s time to shed the winter layers and dig out the flip flops! Too early yet for flip flops? OK, but at least we can start thinking about it. A quick reminder that our last bake sale for this membership year, will be on Palm Sunday, March 29 th. We are looking for donations of baked goods, small crafts and cards. As we did at Christmas, we are going to offer parishioners a chance to sign cards for the service men and woman recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center. So if you have extra Easter, Get Well, Thinking of/praying for You or any Spring type cards, we would love use them. The cards can be dropped off with your baked goods the day of the sale. Our next meeting has been pushed out to April 9 th (since the 2 nd is Holy Thursday), at 7pm. The ladies from assisted living will be painting flower pots for Spring. Our business meeting will be directly after. The Annual State Convention for the MN Ladies Auxiliary is April 25 th in New Prague. I strongly encourage you to attend. Registration must be submitted by April 11 th, so please let me know if you are interested. Nancy will be attending as a voting state board member. I am attending as a voting member for our auxiliary, but I do need one more voting member to join me. A lot of hard work goes in to these conventions and it is a rewarding day for everyone.
