3 Preparation for Worship Christ calls us to live for our neighbors. Jesus broadened the definition of neighbor to include those ordinarily despised and excluded. His life in behalf of others led to persecution and death. He commanded his disciples to live the same way. We believe Christ gives us and demands of us lives that recognize all people in all cultures as our neighbors on this planet. ANNOUNCEMENTS Our Community Irondequoit Community Cupboard thanks all the special Santas who donated 8,313 pounds of food for the holidays. From January 2013 January 2014 ICC has seen an increase of 18% in the number of households served. In January alone they provided enough food for 5,880 meals. Their backpack program provides weekend meals ands snacks to 104 children. Their top ten needs are: canned fruits in their own juices, canned chicken and salmon, pasta sauce, pork and beans, kidney, cannelloni or white beans, pasta (not spaghetti), coffee and healthy snacks. We celebrate our 10th Anniversary with RAIHN in April of During these ten years, RAIHN has supported and offered rest and comfort for 297 families who were in the midst of some of the most difficult experiences of their lives. The gifts of friendship, shelter, security and food that were offered to our guests are immeasurable. Sincere thanks from the RAIHN Board of Directors! Are you balanced?, is the subject of a workshop lead by members of the Mercy Prayer Center scheduled for February 28-March 1st at Pittsford Presbyterian Church. 10 February Monthly Mission RAIHN Non-Perishable Items Needed for the Next Rotation at IUCC 1 lb. containers of regular and decaf coffee (lots of tea on hand!) Drink boxes (smaller sizes and regular sizes) Dry mix for lemonade Breakfast bars Syrup Boxes of cereal (plenty of oatmeal on hand) - regular size box rather than super-size Soups to-go (suitable for heating in microwave and using for a lunch) Packages of children's lunch box snacks (raisins, apple sauce, etc.) Tuna fish Large box of individual bags of chips 1 lb. bag of individual candies $5 denominations of Wegman's gift cards The RAIHN rotation for February at IUCC will host 3 to 5 families of 15 or more people. Guests are provided a hot meal every night and a breakfast in the morning. Some may even pack a lunch before they leave for the day. In order to provide nourishing meals and snacks, non-perishable and shelf stable foods need to be replenished. The following is a suggested list of needed items.
