Children ages 3-12 are invited to this one-day ecumenical program. Bible characters in costume will relate the exciting and lifechanging stories of Noah, Moses, Joshua, and Jesus. There will be a visit from the Utica Zoomobile. Lunch is free. VBS will also raise funds for Heifer International to help impoverished children. Register online at: cooperstownvbs.eventbrite.com CHICKEN BARBECUE Our annual Hall of Fame Brooks Chicken Barbecue is scheduled for Saturday, July 23 th, 3 7 p.m. Winnie Denny-Smith is chair of this major church fundraiser and needs much help for the event to be a success. July 23, 2:30 to? servers, runners, cashiers Finale clean-up The sign up sheet will be in the Fellowship Room, or call Winnie INDUCTION DAY WORSHIP Hall of Fame Induction Day is expected to bring thousands of visitors to town for the weekend of July All of the excitement may create traffic and travel difficulties on Sunday morning. We will set an earlier worship service time later in July. Weather permitting, we will be on the front lawn under the tent. The service will be an informal praise service of songs, prayers and scripture. PARKING FUNDRAISER Baseball fans take advantage of our convenient parking behind the church for the Hall of Fame Induction Day on July you can too! Parking will start at 10 AM. SUMMER WORSHIP Morning worship services will be held at 9:30 a.m. (exception, see below). There are no Christian Education classes.

3 UMW NEWS SPRING RUMMAGE SALE THANKS (June 3 and 4, 2016) Thanks to everyone who dropped off items for the Sale we had more than usual(that seemed to be true anyway). We did not have the long line at the door that we usually have, but our shoppers were somewhat steady all day. The Bag Sale on Saturday was helpful in emptying the tables. We made about $1100 total for the two days. All clothing was bagged and taken to the drop box at the Baptist Church to be donated to missions both in the United States and worldwide. Worn towels and blankets went to the SPCA. Some of the better items were put aside for the Christmas Bazaar. What was left was boxed for Sally (A & E Anything and Everything). She picked it all up and gave us $75. That is a blessing for us and we are grateful. Thanks to all who spent time getting ready for the sale and for breaking it all down. It takes time and energy, and it would not work without a good crew! to continue our mission projects. You may mail your contribution directly to our treasurer, Nancy Davis, 45 Delaware Street, Cooperstown, New York anytime before August 29 th. If you contribute by check make it payable to United Methodist Women and mark BAKELESS PIE SALE. FOOD BANK The need for donations of non-perishable food items continues through the summer. The number of people served has greatly increased. Food items (double bagged) may be left in the collection box in the back of the sanctuary or dropped off at the Food Bank located in the Presbyterian Parish House (back entrance, downstairs) on Church Street, M-F 10 AM-4 PM and last two and 2-4. Cash donations are also appreciated and offering envelopes are available on the collection box. Checks may be made payable to Cooperstown Food Bank, mailed to 25 Church Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326, or placed in the offering plate and they will be delivered. BAKELESS PIE SALE--In lieu of the usual sidewalk bazaar pie sale, we ask your support in this endeavor by making a voluntary contribution equal to the cost of one or two pies. We will mail reminder cards in early August. 4 The Terrace We have an opportunity to apply for a grant from a private foundation to fund site preparation for the terrace area and new sidewalks. Matching funds are needed. The sale of bricks is an important fundraiser to meet this goal. An interim deadline of July for brick purchases and donations will provide a total for the grant match. Fundraising won t stop there it will continue throughout the year and beyond to complete the installation. We are delighted with the response to The Terrace letter and brochure mailing. Letters have also been sent to Centennial Celebration families, children of former pastors, and friends in the community. We plan to post an adoption sheet of deceased saints of our congregation for whom there are no contacts, but deserve to be honored. For further information, contact Merrilyn or merri88@verizon.net SPPRC NEWS Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to the Open House luncheon that was held on June 11 for Pastor Bill and Regina. Whether you made food, helped in the kitchen or contributed toward the extra expenses, it was very much appreciated by not only the SPPRC but also Pastor Bill and Regina. It was a lovely gathering and a very fitting send off for the Delias. Thanks again. Susan Gelatt, SPPRC Chairperson A NOTE FROM THE NA GROUP You folks have been wonderful. Thank you so much for everything. The Group resumed meetings at our church Sunday evening, May 22 th starting with three members. There are about 10 members now. Leftover coffee from Coffee Hour is left for them to reheat in the microwave and leftover snacks are set aside in the refrigerator. If you sign up to bring food for Coffee Hour, perhaps you would include some extras for the Group. It would be sincerely appreciated.. Thanks, Merrilyn REVEREND WILLIAM DELIA 21 KNOLLWOOD HOLLOW TERRACE BALLSTON SPA, NY Dear Friends at Cooperstown UMC I thank my God every time I remember you, 4 constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, 5 because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:3-6 As Regina and I think about all of you, we understand completely what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote these words to the Christians at Philippi. We think of you daily and always with prayers of thanksgiving for the time we shared with you and for the many kindnesses you showered upon us in recent weeks. Thank you. We are still in the throes of moving unpacking and packing as we get ready to depart for some time in Florida with our new grandson, Miles, and his family. As you may have heard, my cardiac procedure went very well, although I don t bounce back as quickly as I once did. Still, we are glad to have that behind us and we are looking forward to some serious grandparent time. Thank you, again, for your cards, kind words and gifts on our departure. We will always hold you in our prayers. We pray that this summer will be another great one in Cooperstown and that you and Pastor Tom will, together, continue the good work God has begun among you.
