The weather was iffy at times, but the rain held off and didn t dampen our fellowship and good food. A special thanks to those that participated in ALL work details and for those that offered good advice. Because of you, it was a great success. I hope to see all of you and many more at the Oktoberfest on October 22, As this is a FAMILY- oriented organization, why not bring them in, and they can enjoy our fun first- hand. Fraternally, Bro. Mason, Most Wise Master Commander-In-Chief s Message Fraternal Greetings, As I am writing this message, I cannot believe that summer is soon over. I do not know where the summer went! Fall will be upon us and the Lodges will be back in session. Don t forget, the upcoming One Day Class on October 29th. This is a good time to look around your Lodge and talk about the Scottish Rite. Ask your fellow brethren if they are members of our Valley. We all know we only get out of our fraternity what we put into it. That being said, please ask and bring any new members. I feel this is a great time to build back our fraternity. The cost to join has been waived. If you are in need of a petition, please contact the Valley Secretary or any of the officers, and your wish shall be granted. As you know, the fall season is busy for everyone. The Valley is no exception. There are many activities planned, and they are listed on the back page of the Clipper. I would suggest coming out and taking part in as many as possible. I want to thank everyone who sent cards and visited the funeral home during the passing of my Father-In-Law. Lori & I really appreciated the outpouring of love and compassion everyone shared and displayed toward our family. It will always be remembered. As always, the Valley can be of aid to you. 4 Page 4 Page 9 A Note from the Valley Secretary One Day Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite Journey Saturday, October 29, 2016 New Castle Consistory The morning session beginning at 8:00 am through 11:50 am is dedicated to the Blue Lodge conferrals of the Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason degrees. Lunch is served at noon, followed by the opportunity to continue the Masonic Journey in the afternoon to become a 32 Scottish Rite Mason. The opportunity to advance from EA, FC, and MM to become a 32 Scottish Rite Mason in one single day is a unique experience for newly-made Masons. It is also an opportunity for those who paused in their Masonic Journey as 14 Grand Elect Masons to continue their progression to complete the requirements of becoming a 32 Scottish Rite Mason. There are 3,200 Master Masons in the Valley of New Castle, of which almost all of the 3,200 have completed the requirements to be a 32 Scottish Rite Mason. There are seventy eight that are 14 Grand Elect Masons who have not completed their journey to become a 32 Scottish Rite Mason. This is a great opportunity to do so. So the challenge is before every Master Mason to identify and invite men to join our fraternity. The times have changed from traditional progressive steps in the past. We must respond to the times, making adjustments to our past practices. And there is no better time than NOW to show how we can grow our fraternity with men of all ages by inviting them to join our organization. The task is upon us to identify and invite new members to the fraternity. Each Blue Lodge has its own fee schedule. However, huge savings can be achieved in our Scottish Rite offer to eliminate fees for joining the Scottish Rite. Please use the enclosed petition to get started today in your search for new members. It s that time of year again when some of our members have moved north for the summer and others are downsizing. We try to stay on top of address changes, but sometimes we do not find out until after we get a return from the post office. Please try to keep the Valley office updated. If you are going south for the winter, and moving back home in spring, the office can put both your summer & winter address in the membership system so you can receive the Valley Clipper and any other correspondence from the Valley. Over the last couple of years, the Almoner s committee have been trying to contact everyone by phone and/or by . Unfortunately, we have discovered that MOST of the phone numbers and addresses we have are no longer in service. If you would or mail the Valley Office with your correct phone number and/or , we will be able to contact you in the future. We will not give your information out, nor will we call you to solicit. 6 Page 6 90th Anniversary of the Cathedral. November 12 commemorates the opening of the Cathedral. There will be tours open to the public 12 noon-4pm. Learn about the history of the Cathedral and take in the beauty of the building as well. Fall Reunion Dinner will be on November 12th. This dinner is for you, your lady, and family members who would like to join in the celebration of you becoming a Scottish Rite Mason. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm.
