3 Dundonald Parish In addition to Dundonald Village the Parish includes all of Drybridge, the eastern half of Loans and a number of farms in the surrounding countryside. In the north, the boundary lies south of Irvine and follows the river to a point between Old Rome and Caprington Castle. It then runs south and southwest between Crooks and Dankeith and follows the Rumbling Burn until it meets the old A78 trunk road which it follows north to the River Irvine. The uninhabited offshore island, Lady Isle is included. The boundary is precisely defined in the Kirk Session minute of 23 rd February The present Church building, the third on the present site, was opened on 11 th June 1804, with the steeple, clock, session room and chancel being added over the next 100 years. Our Church Hall was originally built as a Free Church of Scotland in the second half of the 19 th Century and from 1929 it operated within the Church of Scotland as Dundonald St Andrews, the present Church being known as Dundonald St Giles. The two churches were reunited in Our current membership is around new members and visitors are always very welcome at Church and at any of the activities or organisations. 2

7 Gift Aid Gift Aid allows the Church to recover a significant amount of Income Tax on all of a member s givings in a year. The only condition is that members must t have paid the equivalent or more in Income Tax as is recovered by the Church. A Gift Aid donation is simple to make. Members only have to sign a single Gift Aid declaration to confirm that they wish all their contributions to the Church to be treated as Gift Aid donations. The declaration remains in force until withdrawn. There is no Inland Revenue requirement that the member must make an ongoing commitment to this agreed amount. This is clearly the best way of giving to the church. As there has to be proof of this commitment, Gift Aid payments have to be made by way of a bank standing order or through WFO envelopes or by cheque (but not by cash in the open plate). All donors will receive a note of their annual contributions for Tax Returns purpose. If you are interested in making a Gift Aid declaration please contact our Gift Aid Organiser Ann Ferguson Website See the website for full information about Dundonald Church including the History of the Church, Clubs and Groups, Calendar of Events, Contact Magazine and the Year Book. In order to keep the website up to date organisations should regularly give syllabus details, meeting dates, future events etc to Bob McMillan /GM8juy@aol.com 6
