Last Sunday we had the thrill of approving a package for our NEW PASTOR!!!! With a unanimous vote of the members present (50-0) as well as a few nonmembers (3-0), we approved the terms of call for Pastor Aaron White who will be coming to us from Quincy, Illinois. Pastor Aaron is planning on a A sample Yes vote! start date of Aug. 1. Last weekend he was accepted into our Presbytery as stated supply (this means he can fill pulpit and administer sacraments) and given permission to moderate our Session by the Ministerial Committee. At the September Presbytery meeting he will be examined and approved by the Ministerial Committee, after which there will be an installation service here at our church. Thanks to the following people for their service to God during the past month: Aaron Baldauff, Evan Lee, Jeff Miller, Carol Wildman, Matthew Vaughn, Louise Berrier, and Don Grigorenko (our Selection Team) for meeting weekly (and then some) for the past few months during the pastor selection process. Rick Burton and Jim Lightle for volunteering to be greeters. Diana Timmons for cleaning out our flower beds and giving then a face lift! Matthew Vaughn & Chuck Wildman for mowing the church lawn. Rachel & Ellenore Baldauff, Maddie White, Emma Parker, Cathy Delk, Ryleigh Curtin, and Deanna, Kate, & Scarlett Mattinson for volunteering to serve in the nursery. Page 3 May 27, 2018 Everyone is invited to stop by the Fellowship Hall right after the 11:00 service today for a graduation celebration for Bradley Kohaniec. Bradley has been an important part of our church family. He has been involved in our youth program for many years and has helped out at various events including Trunk or Treat, Pioneer Clubs, Jr. High Night, praise band, and has done quite a bit of handyman moving and carrying. Congratulations, Bradley! We wish you well! Please come and help us celebrate the graduation of two of our beautiful seniors Emma Parker and Maddie White this Saturday, June 2, in the FPC Fellowship Hall from 3-7 pm. You re Invited. The Mitchell Family would like to invite everyone to a graduation open house for Jesse Mitchell on Saturday, June 9th, from 1-4 pm at their home at Pancake Selsor Rd., London. Below are some of their plans for the fall: Bradley Kohaniec is undecided on what direction he is going at this time, but he is planning to move closer to family and will see where the Lord leads him. Emma Parker will be attending Otterbein University and majoring in psychology. Maddie White is going to Clark State and will be taking classes to be a medical assistant. Jesse Mitchell is attending Ashland University on a wrestling scholarship and majoring in business. Thank You Dear Presbyterian Friends: I thank you all for the special wishes on my 96th birthday! I keep telling them I m 69 and they have it backwards but can t seem to make them believe me! I sure miss being able to come to Ohio in the summers as I did for years. I always enjoyed seeing all of you in church and I especially enjoyed your pastor s sermons. I miss the grandchildren and Carter my special playmate! I m so thankful for Jim and Jane and all they do for me. They are very special to me. It s now the unofficial start of summer, rather than a day of tribute to the departed it was originally meant to be. Even if we plan fun events for Memorial Day weekend, it s important to stop long enough to bow our heads and pay respect to our departed loved ones especially those who fell in battle while helping preserve America s liberties. Let us take time to make the pilgrimage to various cemeteries and pause long enough to say, Thank you, Father, for these special lives, for sacrifices made and for friendships we have shared. When the late CBS correspondent Ed Bradley visited the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., he found a letter propped against the black wall. It read: I wanted to come back and say hello. You know, I went ahead and married to Dick, and we have a beautiful little girl. Her favorite color is purple, the color of this stationery. I went to Arlington to see your grave, and on it, it said you got a Purple Heart for dying. Well, this is your purple heart for having lived. I hope that our daughter finds as wonderful and as beautiful a first love as you were for me. Good-bye. Hello. Nancy.
