It seemed like a couple of weeks ago we were praying for warmth for heat for warmer temperatures and clearing skies. But time and the summer passes quickly and somewhere in the county there will be that last rose of the spring left blooming alone. What if you are.or think you are.that last human rose? Here you are, all by yourself. The temptation is great to withdraw from the arena of life and retreat deeper into yourself. But that would not be good, not for yourself or for the people around you. One great truth in life is that you are never really alone. There are always people around you, where you live, where you work, where you go to school, or where you shop. There are friends in your church worshipping and working with you and struggling just like you and me! But above all, God is with you in His gracious presence, and the Lord keeps his promise. Surely I am with you always (Matthew 28:20) God s promise to His people thousands of years ago is the same today. I have made you, and I will carry you: I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Isaiah 46:4). This was true to the Israelites held captive in Babylonia and it is true to the church of the Redeemer in Vineland. As children of God we live daily in communion with Christ through word and prayer. You are created in His image, redeemed through Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit and joined together in a common location with a common goal. To be a rose in God s flower garden means you are a blooming rose, that is, a person still bringing forth the fruits of faith to God s glory and fulfillment of human needs. Your words of encouragement, your pleasant smile, your greeting cards, s, face-book posts, or telephone calls are all acts that demonstrate your blooming in your faith. This is God s promise: The righteous will flourish.they will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green Psalm 92:12,14) As we struggle through the low attendance and scarcity of giving in the summer, let us know that God continues to support us individually, as a family, and as a community in faith.blooming for the sake of the Gospel. Pastor Gary

Redeemer the Phillies The weather forecast called for tropical temperatures, showers, and possible high winds. Yet, a brave group of Phillies fans travelled on Sunday, June 5th (right after 10:30 Service) to Citizens Bank Park in South Philly to enjoy a Major-league baseball game between the Milwaukee Brewers and our Philadelphia Phillies. It was our first time that we sat in one of the lower sections of the stadium. We enjoyed the closeness to the players on the field. The Phillies even hit 2 home runs near where we were seated! Although the Phillies are a struggling young team, we witnessed an 8 to 1 victory! The rain and bad weather didn t reach the South Jersey/ Philadelphia area until after we safely travelled back to our homes in Vineland. We accepted donations of canned goods at Redeemer, and profits of the trip went to purchase items for the Vineland Ministerium Food Bank. We had fun in fellowship. We have an invitation for you to join us next year! If you have a Smartphone you may now make your church offering via your phone. Go to Redeemer s website and click on Donate to Redeemer and follow the instructions from there. Thank You for your ongoing support of the ministry of Redeemer! Remember to check your personal mailbox, located in the narthex, as you exit church on Sunday mornings ALTAR FLOWERS/COMMUNION WINE! The Altar Flowers and Communion wine are available for donation each Sunday throughout the year. The flowers are $20/vase (you may donate one or both) and the wine is $10. Your donation may be In Memory or In Honor of a Loved One, or In Honor of a Special Event. 8 Redeemer Travelers Thank goodness, its summertime! During his time of the year our active congregation members will be traveling to many locations around New Jersey, the United States and around the world. It is always fun to share a photo of your trip. Not everyone uses a computer, and many members are not online with the Facebook program. Here at Redeemer, we want to make sharing your pictures easy. Snap a photo or two, and then write a couple sentences about your experience. It would be great if you were wearing your Redeemer or Thrivent T-shirt in the photo, or holding a copy of your weekly bulletin or a copy of Clippings! If possible, your photos and story to Lisa in our Church Office. Her is: parishadmin@redeemerlutheran.net Please title the Redeemer Travelers If your story cannot be ed, please write a note with your photo, and drop it off at our Church Office Please mark the envelope: Redeemer Travelers We look forward to seeing your photo! The staff at Redeemer wishes everyone a wonderful summer season! - REDEEMER TRAVELERS THIS MONTH ARE: Dawn and Jerry Amari spent 4 days in Key West, Florida. They enjoyed the tropical breezes, live music and of course... seafood! +Dear Church Family, Thank your very much for sending me beautiful flowers and putting my name in the prayer list. I m very grateful to hear my family come home from church and the reason is because everyone has asked how I ve been doing. I am doing a lot better, but I still have the headaches. 9 Movie night at Redeemer was a great success. Lots of families came out to watch ZooTopia. All received free popcorn, hot dogs and drinks. Children were even given glow sticks. Redeemer plans on having a few more movie nights this summer. May you come back and bring friends as we continue to enjoy in fellowship. Please watch the bulletin for MOVIE NIGHTS coming up. Thank you & Goodbye Dear Redeemer, Grace and Peace be unto you from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen. It has been an immeasurable pleasure to serve Redeemer as Youth Director. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be here, for believing in my efforts even when the numbers were down, and for supporting me and your youth throughout this year. Thank you for believing in youth ministry and the life it brings to this place! My wife and I are overwhelmed with gratitude for your generous gifts and words that you have given us at our parting. You have sent us off to Alaska much better off than we would have been otherwise! Thanks for sharing so generously with us. We are truly grateful. It is not without a good dose of sadness in our hearts that we will depart, but it is exciting yet still to think of what the future may have for our continued partnership in ministry. I will be keeping in touch! And I am further humbled by your council s vote to ratify a partnership between Redeemer and Shishmaref. It means a lot to us that my wife and I will not be going to Alaska alone, but we will be borne up on the prayers and love of this whole community during our journey. Vineland NJ will certainly remain in our prayers also. It is my fervent prayer and hope that the seeds of youth ministry that we have been able to plant together this year will continue to be nurtured and given every opportunity for growth in the years to come. As I said in my final youth report to council, it is a matter of good stewardship that you continue to fund and support your youth with a paid and dedicated youth staff. I hope that upon my leaving, my position does not remain vacant. The state of the Redeemer youth is currently a strong one, and it would be a shame to see that core flounder back to how it was before I arrived. Your youth are crying out for someone who can tend and nurture them for years to come. Please hear their prayers and mine. We have a good thing going, and I pray that, as a congregation, you will work to keep it going by continuing to fill the Youth Director position in my stead. Thank you again, for all that you have given your youth. Thank you for all you have given my wife and me. Thank you for Thursdays, thank you for all your days and your times that you spent having fun and having youth. Thank you for sharing the good news of Christ with your vigor in this place. Goodbye, and happy trails to you wherever your feet may take you. The Peace of God keep and guard you,-pastor Tommy Richter and Ann Stromgren.

10 Making $ense of Giving at Redeemer This graph is being used as a way to help all of us understand the finances involved in the operation and upkeep of RLC. While it cannot tell you the whole story of dedication and commitment among the congregation and staff, it gives us a glimpse of our circumstances. As giving increases, our ministries can expand. Redeemer Lutheran Church and it s MEMBERS have been approved into the Credit Union Membership. Please take a flyer from the narthex table and look it over. You must be a member to take advantage of any credit union services. Membership is open to the congregation of our Select Employee Groups ("SEGS") and their family members (mother, father, sister, brother, grandparents, grandchildren, children, spouse) and household members. Once a member, always a member. Even if you change jobs or relocate you can still remain a member of the credit union. You must maintain a minimum balance of $25 in a share savings account to be a credit union member. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT LISA IN THE CHURCH OFFICE OR GO TO ONE OF THEIR BRANCHES. 101 W. Elmer Road, Vineland (or) 600 N Second St, Millville phone (856) Endowment Money Members of Redeemer: Over the past several months "pew giving" has continued to dwindle. Accordingly, our finance committee and church staff have had to find additional funds to keep up with payroll, insurance, and weekly expenses. One place that we have gone in the past is to the "endowment" fund which is held by Thrivent Financial. Below is an explanation of how we have used those funds during tough financial times and how the fund has fared over the years. Contributions to this fund are always welcomed and would help us to have this "emergency fund" for these times. Your support is appreciated. Note that this is not the Sarah Place Funds which are in a separate endowment and providing the church with interest income twice a year. That income is still not enough to keep us from needing additional funds for basic church expenses. Folks: Some history here...the funds that we a talking about here are the remnant funds from the Mini Kuhn fund that had been placed in an endowment of over $600,00 back in the 80's. That fund had dwindled to around $90,000 when I began at Redeemer in We have since used it several times to repair the education building roof, make other capital expense repairs, and have paid some of it back. During that time we did not get "permission" from the original endowment committee, but felt that we should include them in the decision making of how/where the funds are spent. We just started doing this within the past two years (getting endowment committee permission) to use the funds. This does not need congregational vote and doesn't even need council vote or endowment committee vote. It does require signatures from some of the original endowment committee members which we have procured each time we have "used" the funds. We are involving as many people as possible so that the congregation will understand where the funds are being used and why. The bottom line is that the giving has become worse, the expenses continue to grow, and the income from the school rental has disappeared. Hence, we find ourselves needing to tap into this fund for the summer expenses. There are signatures on the account that are members of the endowment committee and we have done this before. This is not a new idea. Jennifer will be gathering the necessary signatures and communicate with all concerned. This will leave approx.. $28,000 in that account once we withdraw the funds. Pastor Gary
