The offering this night will be given in its entirety to the construction costs of one of our mission churches in Brazil. In October work had to stop on the Brazil Campo Grande Church construction project due to lack of funds. A donor has recently offered to match gifts towards the completion of the construction of this church. This generous offer means our Christmas gift will be doubled. Although this is not the church where Missionary Mike and Natihna Poe are currently working, Missionary Mike began his ministry in Brazil at Campinas (population 2 million!) and was instrumental in working with Pastors in the Campinas area. With a donor pledging to double all gifts given through December 31, we thought it a great time to direct our Christmas musical offering to our mission work in Brazil. (Checks can be made payable to Carlisle First Church of God. ) December 13-7:00 p.m. ATTENTION CGWM members The December meeting date of December 6 has been changed to the 13th. Hope to see you all there! ASSISTANCE NEEDED The (Churches of God Women s Ministries) is collecting items to place in gift bags for our Church of God Home residents and shut-ins. We will need to fill approximately 30 bags this year. Will you help us fill those bags by supplying one or more of the following items? (The COG Home has requested that some items be brand specific and that brand is listed below.) Following are a few suggestions of items: Denture Adhesive Cream (Poligrip, Efferdent, Fasteeth); Denture Cleanser Tablets (Polident, Efferdent); Deodorant (Secret); Mouthwash (Listerine, Scope (8.4 ox. Or smaller bottles); Toothbrushes (soft); Toothpaste; Lotion; etc. A box will be provided in the Narthex through December 12th in which you may deposit the items. MISSION MOMENT Be in prayer for John and Toni thumma pasturing Hooghan Nizhoni and Gamerco churches. Ask God to continue to raise up leaders in the community to become disciples of Christ. JOLLY OLDE TIMERS Please check the bulletin board for early 2012 activities. Get signed up

4 early if you plan to participate in these activities. IT S THAT TIME OF YEAR-when BLAST collects money for our winter mission. We sponsor underprivileged families from Big Spring, Carlisle and South Middleton schools for Christmas. If you would like to donate to this mission, please give to Cheryl Gobin, Lisa Dellinger, or a BLAST teacher and they will be sure we get it. Checks may be written out to BLAST and receipts are available. Donations will be accepted until December 11th. Thank you for your support. We could not do this mission without your generosity. EVERY LIGHT IS A LIFE.a life to be remembered, a life to be honored. Is there someone here on earth or in their heavenly home who you would like to celebrate? A donation in any amount will be accepted in return for a luminary which will bear their name and that will light our way as we gather on Christmas Eve. A list of the loved ones and their sponsors will appear in the bulletin that evening. All proceeds benefit our Church Team for the American Cancer Society s Relay for Life of Carlisle that takes place in May. Order forms are available in the Narthex and may be deposited along with your donation in the Luminary Bag on display through December 18 th. THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT is looking for five old-style lanterns to use for the Christmas cantata. They should be the kind that can be lit and then blown out. We would need them ASAP and would keep them until after the cantata on December 11th. We will return them to their owners after the cantata is presented. We also need a medium old-style trunk with a lid that is hinged to open. If you can help with any of these items, please contact Diana Ciucci at , or let Pastor Mathna know. WE WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND congratulations to William Walters and Amanda Greene who were united in marriage on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Mr. and Mrs. Walters will be residing at 3567 Conroy Rd., Apt #1233, Orlando, FL We offer our best wishes to Will and Amanda on this happy occasion. THE CHURCH ADVOCATE, October/November issue, is available for pickup in the Narthex. Each family may take one to read about the exciting things which are happening in the Churches of God General Conference. THANK YOU MESSAGE I would like to thank Pastors Mathna and Greg and all my church family for the visits, cards, other acts of kindness, and also for the prayers that a lot to me. I am doing better now and am thankful to God for that. I thank the Lord for His many blessings. Frank, my husband, is now living at Thornwald Home. Again thanks for everything. Anna Evelhoch WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY If it is necessary to cancel a Sunday morning service, we will make that decision by 8:15 a.m. and attempt to have it announced over the following TV stations: WHP-21 and UPN 15. Since there are several Churches of God in Carlisle, our church will be distinguished by the use of the word or symbol FIRST(1st), i.e. Carlisle First Church of God or First Church of God, Carlisle. We will also post it on our Web site at 222.carlislecog.org. More importantly, the Council has developed a system whereby we will endeavor to telephone each family or person when Sunday Morning services are cancelled. But no system is perfect! When in doubt, call a member of the Council before attempting to drive to church in snowy or icy conditions. We tend to cancel Wednesday evening services more frequently because snow-covered roads and slippery highways are much more treacherous to drive on at night. If the Carlisle School District cancels classes on a Wednesday or dismisses early on a Wednesday because of weather conditions, all Family Night Services will be automatically cancelled. Otherwise, the decision to cancel Family Night services will be made no later than 4:45 p.m. We will post cancellations on the Web site and on the aforementioned TV stations. If you have any questions, call either the Pastor, the Music Director, the EDGE Leaders, or the BLAST Leaders Regardless of our decision, please use your best judgment concerning your safety when weather conditions are deteriorating. If you have reservations about driving, it may be advisable

5 to stay home that morning or that night.
