1 Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih V (may Allah be his Helper) delivered the Friday Sermon today at Baitul Futuh Mosque, London. After reciting Tashahud and Surah Al- Fatihah, Huzoor Anwar (aa) said: By the grace of Allah, Jalsa Qadian was inaugurated today. Pray that Allah may bless this Jalsa and enable the attendees to attain the purpose for which they have gathered there. And that purpose is to supplicate before Allah, to enhance knowledge and improve upon the practical conditions (i.e. actions), to enhance relationship with God, and through the benefit of the spiritually charged environment of Jalsa, draw particular attention towards Dua (supplications); such prayers that are not confined to a personal level, but are done for the progress of the Jama at, and for its protection; to pray for the fulfillment of the grand mission of Promised Messiah (as). This mission was to guide the Muslims; to call Non- Muslims towards the true Islam; to establish the Unity of God; and to bring the world under the banner of the Holy Prophet (sa). Likewise, pray that may Allah grant the Non-Ahmadi Muslim World the ability to recognize the truth and accept the one commissioned by God, without whom there is no hope or salvation for them. And pray that they enter the new year with this understanding. May Allah grant them this understanding! Huzoor Anwar (aa) said that the subject of Dua (supplications) has been thoroughly expounded in the course of the Promised Messiah s (as) writings, in which he has described what is Dua, how it is accepted, and has drawn special attentions to towards it. The Promised Messiah (as) has said: A supplication is not accepted, until one s heart is purified and cleansed. As long as there is rancour and enmity in the heart, as a result of worldly reasons, the supplication is not accepted. One should not hold any grudge or enmity in the heart against someone for worldly reasons. For, is it really worth holding enmity against others for worldly reasons, which are in reality so insignificant? In order to have prayers accepted, it is very important to first remove all personal grudges, and to cry before Allah, seeking His forgiveness for all sins, and to supplicate for retaining a clean heart in the future.

2 In the context of all the plans being hatched by the opponents of the Jama at, today we must unite to pray for the world, and prostrate ourselves before God. When a person prostrates before God in a state of complete distress and restlessness, it is then that God grants acceptance to his prayers. Huzoor Anwar (aa) stated: The Promised Messiah (as) says that some people are such that, they do not listen and their hearts are not affected. Until, one does not pray abundantly and fervently, He does not care. For instance, when a man s wife or child become ill, he falls in a state of grief and becomes extremely restless. Likewise, if a supplication does not carry extreme distress, restlessness and anxiety, it is useless. The Promised Messiah (as) has said: Our Jama at should make it incumbent upon itself to offer tahajjud. Anyone who cannot do more should make at a minimum two rak at because he will get an opportunity to make some supplications. Supplications made at this time have a very special characteristic because they are offered with true pain and eagerness. Until there is a special pain and heartfelt agony, how can one wake up from comfortable sleep? To wake up at this time creates a heartfelt pain, which creates a condition of devotion and distress, which in turn become the means of acceptance of supplication. But someone who is lax in waking up is obviously lacking in pain and anguish. (Malfuzat, new edition, vol. 2, p. 182) He further states: When help is sought only from God and with complete concentration, a sense of extreme distress and anxiety is reached, that is when door of success is opened. One cannot unite two different types of loves. Love of God, brings the world along with it. However, loving the world does not lead to finding God. Furthermore, he stated in regards to supplication and offering of prayers: The members of our Jama at should become role models. If a person s life after doing the Bai at is still unclean and impure, as it was prior to the Bai at, and one, despite being in our Jama at, exhibits a bad example, has indeed a transgressor, and makes us target of objection.

3 Huzoor Anwar (aa) stated: The weapon of spiritual progress is Dua, and that is the weapon that must be used by those who have believed in the Promised Messiah (as). For, this is the weapon that will remove us from difficulties, and will defeat our enemies. Therefore, every Ahmadi should draw his attention towards Dua. Near the end, Huzoor Anwar (aa) presented a prayer of the Promised Messiah (as) - [Arabic prayer]. The translation of this prayer is as follows: Oh my Lord, accept my prayers and my cries in regards to my people. In the name of the Khatamun-Nabiyin (sa), I beseech thou to pull them out of darkness and bring them towards light; pray have mercy on them, who send curse upon me and seek to cut off my hands. Pray grant them forgiveness and protection; pray reform them and purify them! Pray grant them such eyes through which they can see, such ears by which they can hear, such hearts by which they may understand! Pray have mercy upon them, and overlook them for whatever they utter against me; for they are a people who know not. O my Lord, in the name of Prophet Muhammad (sa), in the name of all who stand up for offering Tahujjud, and in the name of conveyance and the journeys undertaken towards Ummul Quraa (Mother of Towns - Makkah), pray establish peace between us and our brethren, and open their hearts and grant them the understanding, which Thou has granted me. Pray teach them the ways of righteousness; pray forgive them for whatever has already passed. All praise belongs to Thou! O Lord of All the Worlds! Amin! In the end, Huzoor Anwar (aa) prayed that may Allah open the eyes of the Muslim Nation and enable them to refrain from opposition, and become the helpers of the Promised Messiah (as)! And that Allah also enable us to fulfill the requirements of true supplications! And that the people in Qadian should pray fervently and help create a revolution. May Allah enable us to do so!
