1 Make His Place Your Home Pastor David Jones Associate Pastor Richard Peck June 2017 We exist to love and know God more deeply, to grow more like Jesus each day, and to reach the world in the power of the Holy Spirit with the message of the Cross and the Resurrection beginning in the Mulberry community. Baptist Home Church, Oh, the lazy, hazy days of summer. Whoever said that has not looked at our calendar. It should say, Oh, the busy, busy days of summer! Our calendar is full of opportunities for our church, and for your families to serve God and His community. Please be in prayer for the upcoming events this June, The Case for Christ study begins Sunday night June 11. This study is church-wide and will help you come to a solid commitment about what you believe about Jesus Christ. It is an awesome opportunity for you and your families to get involved. Also pray for our children and our students as they head for camp. Kid's camp is June at Gardner Webb University. Student camp is June in Charleston, SC. Also, June 10 is our second annual men's day Shoot-out. We look forward to this time of fellowship and fun together. Men, make your plans now to come and invite your friends and family to share in the experience with you. Also featured is a wild game cook out. So, bring your favorite meats and goodies for a great time of fellowship. Father's Day, June 18, will feature Howard Carter as our guest speaker. We look forward to this great day of worship together and the joy of honoring the men of Baptist Home Church. Then, I will be heading to Uganda June 25- July 8. I want to say Thank You for all you've done already to support this trip. Thank You for your prayers as well. I look forward to being able to come back and once again report of all the great things God has done and of hundreds of people who will give their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. Well that's just June, there is more to come as we press on throughout this summer. In closing let me just say a word about our study on Sunday mornings. This past Sunday we began a new series of sermons on the subject of Faith. Our scriptural basis is Hebrews 11. My, how I am excited about the things that God is going to teach us and how He is going to move us to place of reward as we diligently seek God. The Bible tells us without faith it is impossible to please God. So that within itself magnifies the importance of this subject. I pray that you will come and avail yourself to this time of study and worship together and that the end result will be that you will grow in your faith, you will excel in the actions of faith, and that the evidence of God's approval will be manifested in your life for His glory. 2 Student Ministry Mission Trip to Canton, Ohio August Mission trip to Kenya January 2018 This mission trip is open to families, singles, adults, youth and children. The cost will be for hotel and food. The hotel room will be around $100. per night for 4 people ($25. a person per night if 4 in a room). The deadline to sign up is July 9. Scholarships will be available. The more people we have to go means more ministry we can do. For more information, contact Dottie Shealy or the church The team will leave mid January 2018 the trip will be 10 to 14 days.. Cost will be approx. $2500. to $3000. / person. If you are interested in going, please contact the church office or Dottie Shealy by June 18th. Preparations must begin soon to secure/update passports, health forms, immunizations, etc.

5 Hometown Kids Baptist Home Baptist Church Where children are TREASURED June 2017 It s the Most wonderful time of the year! No, it isn t Christmas, it s Vacation Bible School time! This year s theme is such a FUN theme! We basically get to take TRASH and turn it into TREASURE. SO, I am asking you to save some of your trash for me. At the end of this article you will find a list of some things that are needed that you might just have in your garage or storage room. More than I need your items, though, I need YOU! There are still many places to fill for VBS. We have plenty of people who are willing to work in the kitchen and I am SO thankful of that, but I need people who are willing to work WITH the children. I am especially looking for CREW LEADERS. CREW LEADERS are those people who will lead a group of children from station to station. Once in the station or class, CREW LEADERS will be in charge of a group of 5-7 children. You will participate in the lessons and lead in discussion within your small group. You don t have to speak in front of a large group. You don t have to study anything. It s Easy-Peasy and the benefits are Blessings Galore! There are only 3 qualifications: 1. You need to be alive. 2. You need to be able to climb steps as one of our stations will be on the 3 rd floor. 3. You need to be able to sit on the floor or in a low chair to be on level with the children. I need a total of 9 workers for Grades 1-6 and possibly a few for our Preschool. I know there are many of you who meet those qualifications. Won t you join us and be part of VBS this year? Volunteers are needed in other areas as well. Please see the bulletin insert for more information or give me a call at (or call the church office) as some of those positions have been filled. I want to tell you a story. 2 years ago, our church had the opportunity to lead a Good News Club at Mulberry School. What a blessing to have this opportunity! We advertised and asked for workers and a few volunteered, though we were still short of what we actually needed. We did our best that year to make it work. We doubled up and covered the bases as best we could. The next year, though, we had to give up this ministry..because we did not have enough people who would volunteer to keep it going. Those of us who worked in Good News Club were deeply involved in church in other ways and it stretched us thin. We just couldn t do it. We had to quit. We had to quit a GREAT ministry opportunity because of lack of volunteers. How sad. Can I be completely honest with you? I fear that we will soon have to quit having VBS because we won t have enough volunteers. I hope you will think seriously about the possibility of this. It s sobering and sad. If you cannot help during the actual week of VBS there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved. I need some things prepared and need people who are willing to do a little crafting or constructing as well as cutting and prepping items. If this is something you would enjoy, please give me a call.
