August 24, 2016 Vol. 64 No. 08 Our annual Round Up Sunday will be Sunday, September 4th at 10:00 a.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER TIME!!!). This will allow all the members of Fireweed to come play for us. There will only be the one service, and will signify the end of the Rose Garden services for the year. No Sunday School classes will be held that day. As always, saddle up and wear your western attire: jeans, boots, a cowboy hat, whatever your think of as western! Please bring a potluck item for after church service because we will continue our celebration in Fellowship Hall. Maybe someone will start some square dancing. So swing on into service at 10 a.m., and bring some other cow folk too! 1

One in particular touched my heart and believe it's worth passing on. Jessica Long is a Paralympic swimmer who was just 12 years old when she competed at the Paralympics for the first time.

One in particular touched my heart and believe it's worth passing on. Jessica Long is a Paralympic swimmer who was just 12 years old when she competed at the Paralympics for the first time. Competing in Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), and London (2012), she has won 17 medals...12 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze. Now 24, Long is likely competing in her last Olympics. She was adopted from Russia by Christian parents as a toddler and had surgery to remove her legs below the knee at age 5, since she had been born without fibulas, one of the calf bones. Jessica shares, "I believe God had a plan for me to be adopted from Russia, to come to the United States and become a Paralympic swimmer. Part of His plan is for me to inspire people, whether they have a disability or not." As Central Christian Church continues to pursue Christ's purpose for our congregation and individual lives, may we have that confident trust in His plans and determination to live out our lives with grace that inspires. By His Grace, "I say this because I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord. I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future." 3 Youth Happenings Hello!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! We had a very successful ice cream social!! All the money raised goes towards Mid-winter and Summer Camp. As always, we couldn t done it without your support. We are still on our study of Sermon on the Mount for the next 3 Sunday mornings. We are also using the computer lab whenever possible. As promised, GETTING TO KNOW YOUR YOUTH GROUP KYLE LANGREDER Kyle just turned 14 and just started 8 th grade at Liberty Point Middle School in Pueblo West. Kyle enjoys playing video games and riding his bike all over Pueblo West. His favorite food is Italian and green is his favorite color. His favorite thing about youth group his hang out with his good friend Jacob. 4 The Rose Garden Team Newsletter News We are still looking for you; the next newsletter editor! I will be glad to show you the ropes, and help you. I am hoping my last newsletter will be in July. By planning now, we can have a few months to work together and keep producing this wonderful newsletter. The rose garden team works from March until September caring for the plants and sidewalks in the rose garden of Central Christian Church. The team members are Pat Rotolo, Jeff and Rebecca Nolting and John Lamb. We meet each Saturday at 9 am (until June then 8 am). Jeff is the handsome guy taking the picture. Passed away on August 1, 2016 in Aurora, CO. She didn't get a chance to join, but was on our shut-in list for a long time. Services were held on August 11, 2016 at Central Christian Church. CWF will be having a luncheon and program on September 21st at 12:15 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Group #2 will be hosting, while group #5 will be providing the program. All are welcome, as are visitors! Thank you to all so very much who helped out with Vacation Bible School and thank you to all who supported VBS. It cannot happen without you. It was an awesome, fun week. Packing Party dates are: October 2 nd October 16 th October 23 rd November 20 th Other Parties May Be Added If Needed. Please Come and Pack Shoeboxes with Items Purchased with Donations to Operation Christmas Child. Please call the church for times. Most packing parties will follow the 10:30 worship and include a light lunch. We hope you can come and pack with us! John Thomas, father of Bill & Judy and Sandy Thomas, joined our church family on June 26th when Pastor Dan went to his house to hear his confession of faith. He joined our church in part because of the weekly visits from Pastor Dan. John is retired from Weicker Transfer and Storage Moving Company where he worked for about 45 years. He has 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and 4 great grandsons. His hobbies have included boating, family trips, and hunting pheasant. John previously attended 1st Baptist, but it closed. There he was very active in the church including being a trustee, deacon, and usher. Sandy says a very special memory is when she and her dad got baptized together in He also wants the church to know, he keeps us in his prayers!
