3 we are a with a mission Parish Report from Father Mike October 28th, No. 13 Thanks to all our parishioners for your generosity and sacrifice in support of the needs of our parish. Thanks for your commitment to the life and welfare of our parish in all the ways you participate in our activities and ministries. A special thanks to these parish leaders for their commitment of time, talent, and energy on behalf of these important stewardship initiatives. Beyond Sunday Campaign Team Don & Diane Merz, Mike & Laura Petroff, Mary Meredith, Joan Aslin, Capital Improvement Committee Mike Petroff, Chairperson Parish Finance Committee Bill Krenn, Chairperson Mark Tranel, Donna Schlemmer, Beyond Sunday Progress Report Twice a year - in the spring and fall - we update our parishioners on the progress and the benefit of the campaign in our parish and across the Archdiocese. Again I want to thank our parishioners for their generous participation in this Campaign. Your giving of yourselves is always humbling and encouraging for me. If you have any questions about this report let me know, or talk with anyone of our parish leaders listed to the left. If you need to make any adjustments to your pledge payments or schedule, please contact Beyond Sunday office ( ). This three page report will highlight the impact your generous gifts and pledges are having already, including a final report on the capital improvement projects that have been underway in our parish since March of this year. Through September we received $319,811 in gifts and pledges, 54% of our published goal of $595,000. This extra-ordinary commitment of our parishioners means that over the next three years we hope to receive $127,924. This represents 40% of all gifts and pledges received of which $62,873 has already been returned to us. Our July 2016 Campaign statement announced that these funds together with money from our parish savings will be used for the replacement of the roofs on our parish church and rectory. For this project we accepted a contract for $271,230 with Bade Roofing Co. and this project was completed for the cost of $260,412 including $1,570 of unanticipated expenses. In addition, Consulting services on this project - which helped us maintain consistency in the bidding process and oversight of the work being done - were handled by Roof Tech Consulting at a cost of $13,340 - exactly what we anticipated. Late last winter we also learned that we needed to replace the entire air conditioning system in our church. We accepted a contract for $71,320 with Integrated Facilities Services and this project was substantially completed for the cost of $69,433 including contingencies and additional expenses. Striving for Friendship in Christ Groundwork for the Future At the end of the school year last May we closed The Chapel of Our Lady and began preparing a new worship space in our school. We received a grant from the Archdiocese for the needed work and furnishings. I encourage you to join our students for Wednesday Mass. Your faith will be strengthened. In June we began a thorough cleaning of The Chapel and started to relocate furnishings and liturgical items. A listing will be published in the near future. In July parish leaders considered an invitation from Father Jeff Putthoff, SJ, the new President of Trinity Catholic High School, to postpone our plans for the sale of the property. However, our hope that with his help an active planning process might begin did not develop. So in August with the help of the Hilliker Real Estate Corp, we began to actively market for sale the church and rectory on Bellefontaine Road. These properties are now under contract for sale to another Christian church community expanding their ministries into North County. We hope that this sale can be completed by the end of the year. We will keep everyone informed as more details develop.

4 Consulting services on this project were handled by G&W Engineering Corp. for $7,591, just slightly higher than we anticipated. We began this project with one big unknown question: Would the thermostat controls for the 67 year old air conditioning system in church also work for the new system? We did get the controls working by the end of summer, however, they are not working consistently well on their own. We are still in the process of trouble shooting the problems. We are now anticipating the added expenses of replacing these controls during the coming year. All that we have accomplished has been possible because of the generous extraordinary giving of our parishioners. The success of Beyond Sunday clearly demonstrates that we can sustain our ordinary annual giving and be successful in achieving extraordinary goals for the future. Take some time this week to review the Beyond Sunday Campaign Progress & Impact Report on the next page. This Campaign will help maintain and strengthen parishes and schools for future generations by seeking long-term solutions for affordable, quality Catholic education for all students, as well as support for our parish community. One Final Note of Interest We are now actively discussing the need for a balanced parish budget. This can only be done by sustained and increased offertory giving and by developing our parish facilities for revenue generating partnerships and programs. Earlier this year, after discussion among parish leaders and consultation with the Archdiocesan Office of Building & Real Estate, our Finance Committee recommended accepting an offer to locate a T-Mobile Base Station on our parish property for a monthly lease of $1,475. As of the end of September we have received $10,611. Parish Capital Improvement Summary of Expenses & Revenues Cost to Us How We Paid for the Work Project Consultant for Roof Replacement Project The parish hired Roof Tech Consulting Inc. to assist with the development of this project and oversee construction through the completion of roof installations. Contractor and Contract for Roof Replacement The parish contracted with Bade Roofing Co, Inc. for the installation of new roofs and skylights on our parish church and rectory. This contract was the low bid from among three contractors and was approved by the Archdiocese. Project Consultant for Air Conditioning System Replacement Project The G & W Engineering Corporation has been hired for consulting services on this project, now overseeing the completion of the bid process. They will also oversee the completion of construction and installation. Contractor and Contract for Air Conditioning System Replacement This was the lowest bid received from the three contractors who have responded to our request for proposals on this project. The work of replacing this 67 year old system (original equipment) was undertaken by Integrated Facilities Services. We anticipated - though did not contract for - the possible replacement of the system s thermostatic controls which are still not working consistently well enough to say we ve completed this project. We are now trouble shooting the problems and may need to replace these controls in the coming year. $ 13,340 $ 258,842 $1,570 Additional Expenses $ 7,591 $ 66,530 $2,903 Additional Expenses Funds Set Aside for Roof Replacement Since 2011 These are donor restricted funds that have been set aside since 2011, including contributions received in our annual Year End Gift Appeal and donations made at the time of the Beyond Sunday Campaign. Beyond Sunday Capital Campaign Distributions Returned to Our Parish Represents 49.1% of the total $127,064 we are hoping to receive as gifts and pledges over the five years of this 2016 campaign. Remaining Project Costs Funded from Parish Reserve Funds (Savings) As of September 30th, 2018, our Reserve Fund amounted to $1,566,711 of which $163,983 are donor restricted or designated funds. Therefore, this now substantially completed project will cost approximately 19.7% of our available savings ($1,402,728). $ 17,027 $ 62,873 $ 270,876
