THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: Second & fourth Sundays at 1:00 PM. Expectant parents may contact the parish office to arrange for the baptism seminar class on the third Thursday of every month. The class is held in the Religious Education Building, Room 7 at 7:30 PM. Adults are baptized and confirmed at the Easter Vigil after completing the stages of the Rite of Christian Initiation. RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: A process for those who wish to enter the Catholic Faith, or for present Catholic individuals who after being baptized need to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: Since Catholic marriage requires a time of preparation, arrangements should begin at least six months before the proposed date of the wedding to allow for the Marriage Preparation Program and Natural Family Planning (NFP). PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: If you are planning to enter the hospital for surgery, experiencing a prolonged or serious illness, or homebound, call the parish office to arrange for the sacraments of reconciliation, communion and anointing at home. Communal anointing of the sick is celebrated at Mass during the Advent and Lenten seasons. WELCOME TO NEW PARISHIONERS: The Saint Patrick faith community warmly welcomes you! Nathan reminds David that God anointed him King of Israel and victor over Saul. David realizes his sin against God, but Nathan continues to reveal to David that the child to be born to him shall die. Second Reading: Galatians 2:16, Paul writes of the struggles between Gentiles and Jews who both now profess belief in Christ Jesus. Paul proclaims his life in Christ, working towards unity and faith in the Son of God. Gospel: Luke 7:36 8:3 While Jesus was dining at the home of a Pharisee, a woman of the city who was a sinner, came and anointed his feet with oil. Weeping, her tears fell upon Jesus' feet and she dried them with her hair. Because of the woman's respect and love, Jesus forgives her sins. Encyclical on the Environment In his encyclical on creation care, Pope Francis highlights integral ecology as the basis of the conversion we are all called to in order to save our common home from destruction. Integral ecology is the profound, fundamental interconnection between God, human beings, and all the rest of creation. With Pope Francis we pray, Triune God Give us the grace to feel profoundly joined to everything that is. As we reflect on our relationship to life-giving water, the air we breathe, and the ground we walk on, let us think of actions that we can take locally to protect the air, water and land for the generations to come. We might consider supporting legislative bills of our city, county or state that will serve to do this. As of Friday, June 3rd, 2016, we have raised $57, from 177 gifts. 3 St. Patrick s Religious Education News *Religious Education Registration for is open. From the desk of Fr. Charlie Dear friends in Christ, I am going to repeat myself from last week s letter it is so great to be home!! And I feel that I have picked up right where I left off. On Thursday, I had an emergency call a young man died, under tragic circumstances, at the age of 35. On Saturday, I performed a wedding a beautiful couple Kristen and Alexander. Sunday, I celebrated the First Holy Communion of four of the young men in our Little Shamrocks Program. I am reminded of the words of one of our priests in a recent vocation video As priests, we can go through in one day what people can go through in a lifetime. On Saturday, May 28th, Cardinal Dolan ordained nine priests for the Archdiocese of New York. Seven of them are my former students from Saint Joseph s Seminary: Father Christian Amah, Father Hartley Bancroft (from Washingtonville), Father Thomas Colucci, Father Cruz Alejandro Sanchez, Father JeanPierre Seon, Father James Sheridan, and Father Jon Tveit (from Middletown). The other two, Father Jesus Ledezma and Father John Wilson, completed their studies at the North American College in Rome. In addition, five priests were ordained for the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal: Father Antonio Maria Diez de Medina, Father Dismas Marie Kline, Father Xavier Mariae Meiergard, Father Innocent Montgomery, and Father Bernardino Maria Soukup. May God bless them all as they begin their priestly ministries. In addition, Cardinal Dolan has appointed Father Christopher Argano as the new Vocations Director. Many of you may remember Father Argano from when he was our next door neighbor at Sacred Heart in Monroe. We pray for Father Argano as he begins this challenging assignment. Cardinal Dolan once reminded us that, while we always have one particular priest who is the Director of Vocations, all of us priests and laity are assistant Vocations Directors. We pray that more men may have the courage to answer the call of Jesus Christ Come and follow me! as His priests. After 17 years of priesthood, I often get asked the question, Would you do it all over again? The answer is yes absolutely yes! Even my recent illness helped me to realize how much I love being a priest. One of my favorite writings on the priesthood comes from a 19th century French Dominican named Father JeanBaptiste Henri Lacordaire. It is called Thou Art a Priest Forever To live in the midst of the world with no desire for its pleasure To be a member of every family yet belonging to none To share all sufferings; to penetrate all secrets; to heal all wounds To daily go from men to God to offer Him their petitions To return from God to men to offer them His hope To have a heart of fire for charity and a heart of bronze for chastity To bless and be blest forever. O God, what a life, and it is yours, O Priest of Jesus Christ! God bless you! Father Charlie We are in need of teachers. We are looking for new members to enlighten our ministry to the Blessed Virgin Mary. All who may be willing to serve, please contact Debbie Caldwell at ADULT BIBLE STUDY We are continuing our reading and discussion of the wonderful blend of theology, history and poetry that is Isaiah. On Thursday, June 16, we will be discussing Chapters 40-43:8. As always, we will meet from 7:30 until 9:00pm in Rm. 10 of the Religious Education Building. Newcomers are welcome. 4 Vacation Bible School 2016 Registration for VBS is now open! St. Anastasia Cemetery Parking Information Student Registration is now closed. With over 200 students and 160 volunteers, we are looking forward to a wonderful faith-filled week as we learn about God s great and awesome love.
