Vacation Bible School: July 24-28, 2016 All teachers and volunteers from St. Mary for VBS must have completed a background check and watched a video regarding Protecting God's Children from the Diocese. We are currently trying to get this completed ASAP. Parents must sign a permission slip to allow their own children to attend. This permission slip or a copy of this slip must be submitted to St Mary's Mechanicsville office before VBS begins or children will NOT be allowed to attend. Summer Altar Servers: There are no assigned altar servers for the summer. However, when you attend Mass this summer please feel free to volunteer to serve. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated by Fr Okumu. 4 4 WELCOME TO ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH MECHANICSVILLE & TIPTON IOWA REFLECTION J esus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me. The Lord said to her in reply, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her. Lk 10:38-42 QUESTION OF THE WEEK Theme: We welcome Jesus in our lives. Step One: Listen to the Word As you hear this reading, what words or phrases strike you? What in this reading touches your heart? What lingers in your memory? Step Two: Look into Your Life Question for Children: Name a time when you shared what you had with a friend, or a classmate at school. Question for Youth: Martha chose to serve, Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to Him. Of those two actions, service or prayer, which do you feel more comfortable with? Why? Question for Adults: The Gospel today invites us to serve and to be hospitable. When did you welcome Jesus into your home through the presence of a neighbor or a stranger?
