This weekend the church celebrates the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi Sunday. Today s focus is on the Holy Eucharist itself, not an event from Jesus life. Jesus says: I am the living bread that came down from heaven.unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood; you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. Jesus puts equal emphasis on both his body and his blood. It was one of the renewals of the Second Vatican Council that gave us the opportunity to drink from the cup. It seems to me that many of us haven t taken on this opportunity At the morning Mass in Mechanicsville, Ashley, Kiley and Matthew will be received into the Catholic Church. We will invite them to join us as we renew our profession of Faith, our parents and godparents, did this for us when we became part of the Church. They will join us at communion time receiving the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time. At a walk through they remarked how appropriate it was that the Feast of the day was the Body and Blood of Christ. After Mass let us welcome them to the Body of Christ, the Church. Written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the Gospels are about the life of Christ. You can find them at the beginning of the New Testament of your Bible. You will feel the love as you read. In fact, by the time you finish John, you'll be wishing there was more. (And of course, there is!) Dear St. Mary Parish members, I am working to replace some old tables and chairs in our Parish Hall that have come under disrepair after many years of use. Ten new tables and 40 new chairs would keep us ready for large funeral luncheons, fish fries and so forth. Should you like to make a contribution to this cause, no matter how large or small, please do so by putting it in a white envelope marked table donation and place it in the collection basket at any Mass. Tom Petitgout We got a lot of neat notes for Father Hitch at our "well wishing" station at his party. Children and adults, if you did not have a chance to attend Father Hitch's party, but would like to add a message to our book of "well wishes" for him, there is a basket for messages in the back of the church. The basket will be there for the next two Sundays, Then we'll make the messages into a book for him to enjoy.

4 TIPTON St. Mary s Guild annual Ice Cream Social Sunday, June 23rd - 5:00-7:00pm at the hall General Directions: Families whose last names begin with letters A-P are asked to bring one pie or one pan of bars. Families whose last names begin with letters Q-Z are asked to bring a cake or one dozen cupcakes for the cake/cupcake walk. Please bring these items in a disposable container. Each family is also asked to bring 5 small items for the fish pond. The first person listed on each committee is the chairperson. Each chairperson was sent instructions for their committee s duties through US mail. Persons unable to work their assigned duty are asked to find their own replacements. Some suggestions for substitutes are listed at the end of the assignment sheet, but there are many other members of the parish who have not been assigned a job that may be able to fill your spot. Total donations collected for the Memorial Garden $ These funds were used to purchase bushes, perennials, plus 4 yards of mulch. We have space for more perennials or donated perennials from parishioners. The expenditures to this point are $ with the remaining amount in a church account for future growth. This is going to be an ongoing project with more perennials to come and weeds. If you are so inclined please feel free to pull a weed (just make sure it IS a weed!).
