1 APRIL 2018 CONNECT GRACE-FILLED COMMUNITY INSPIRED WORSHIP TRANSFORMATIONAL MISSION PROXIMITY TO THE SUN Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. John 8:12 It is no coincidence that Easter happens in Spring, when the earth and all of nature around us reinforces the message of new life beyond death. The message of resurrection proclaimed on Easter Sunday happens as Spring springs around us, bringing forth new plants, warmer weather, and longer days. Spring happens for no other reason than the fact that the earth is exposed to sunlight differently and for longer periods each day. The energy generated from sunlight excites particles, plants, waves, and humans alike to spring awake and alive again after what feels like a long and cold winter. Simply put, the sun holds the power of life, to bring the earth alive in full bloom when it shines upon it. We can take the same principle and apply it to our exposure to Jesus, who is known in scripture as God s son. When we put ourselves in relation to the light that shines in darkness, who taught us to find power in serving, hope in healing, and a way out of hatred by loving, here we find new life. On April 1st, we proclaim Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed! and now we have the opportunity and responsibility to remain connected with the light of that promise. In this renewed season of Spring, may you find connection to the life giving light of God s son and be a ray of light in a hurting world. In the Light of the Risen Christ, Rev. Chris Heckert, Sr. Pastor EASTER SUNDAY - APRIL 1 Join us for one of four worship services this Easter, April 1!
