2 Sermon Corner This week we will continue a Sermon Series titled, Making Everything New. As we begin a New Year we open with a series about hope and new beginnings. God is about to do a fresh thing in our midst, everyday God is ready to do something new in us if we would be willing to allow it. This Week s Message Making Everything New-The Master Builder Building a house, even a spiritual house, takes a plan. God is the master builder and God wants to help us build our spiritual homes. Do we have a plan? There is a better way! Scripture: Isaiah 40:28 Next Week s Message: Finish Your Mission- Taeron Flemming Just like Jesus was in the wilderness and tempted by the devil, so are we in our everyday lives and need to learn to weather Satan s attacks in order to continue becoming closer to Jesus Christ; to be like Jesus Christ. We have executive meeting on the first Monday night of each month at 7 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Anyone can attend. Our 2 circles meet on the second Mondays of each month. Katheryn Eye is our daytime circle at 1PM and Martha is our night time group at 6:30 PM. Both meet in the Fellowship Hall. We will be planning our events for the year including the Mother/Daughter Dinner, the Ham luncheon and several more surprises. Check the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall for information about the U.M.W. ALL WOMEN are invited to join us. Try coming for a few months and if you like us, join in. 5 Tuesday Night Men s Study FUMCL Most of us have been on the receiving end of rejection, a broken dream, or heartbreak. While this is not an easy space to be in, when we are grounded in the truth, we can endure the tough times. Discover Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow s passionate story of how he was able to stay grounded in the face of disappointment, criticism and intense media scrutiny. Page 5

6 Tuesday Morning Co-Ed Study 10:30 FUMCL All are Welcome!!! In these 4 Bible study sessions, Erwin McManus teaches how we can reclaim our spiritual health by examining how our faith affects us physically, emotionally, and relationally. Featuring real-life stories and inspiring teaching clips! Page 6

7 Help is needed for the Women s Winter Shelter. We need volunteers to stay overnight, serve food, provide fellowship and support when the women s winter shelter is at our church, Sunday, January 29 th - Sunday, Feb. 5 th. Please sign up on the chart in the Narthex. If you have any questions, please contact Bev Raynor or the church office. Thanks a million for all of your support of the Angel Program We served over 37 children and 13 families between Prison Fellowship Ministries Angel Tree Program and the LARS Holiday Gift Program. We served food, gift cards, and gifts to these families during a very difficult time in their lives. Thanks again for being faithful to the call of the Holy Spirit and giving so generously! Page 7

9 Relay For Life of Laurel 2017 Event Kickoff January 19, 2017 Stop by anytime between 5p to 9p Nando s Peri-Peri at Laurel Baltimore Avenue Please join us at the 2017 Relay For Life of Laurel Kickoff to learn more about how you can be involved in the fight against cancer. You can learn more about all of our volunteer and participant opportunities as well as sign up your team and get started right away! The Relay For Life event takes place on Saturday, June 10 at McCullough Field. During our kickoff, Nando s Peri-Peri will be generously donating 40% of their sales to support our cause.
