There was another bottle in the office when Christy Corey brought the letter, so our donation was actually more! On March 10, we mailed the regular loan payment of $1, and the final check for $1,055.74, which included a small amount of interest that was owed. On Monday, March 17 th, we received a letter from the United Methodist Foundation of New England notifying us that the loan is officially paid off and a copy of the cancelled Promissory Note! What a tremendous feeling of joy knowing that we have paid off the debt so soon! Thank you for everyone s commitment! President Mary Lou Brown opened the meeting with devotions after a delicious pot luck luncheon. Desserts were provided by Mary Lou and others. The secretary report was given and accepted. In the absence of our treasurer Ruth Ross, Gwen Ellinwood gave the treasurers' report. Balance on hand was $ Much UMW business was discussed. 7 GRAY MEMORIAL UMC S PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY IS CELEBRATING 10 YEARS ON MAY 4, 2014!!!! We are pleased to announce that we will honor the 10 th Anniversary of our Prayer Shawl Ministry during our Worship Service on Sunday, May 4 th We began this ministry on May 16 th, During these past 10 years, we have made and presented over 900 prayer shawls to those in need of prayer for illness, grief and also for joy! Over the past several years, we also made Pocket Prayer Shawls for anyone to carry with them, baby blankets that are brought to Cary Medical Center for newborns and scarves for graduating seniors. To help us celebrate, we ask that you bring your Prayer Shawl to Worship on May 4 th. We are also asking for anyone who has received or given a prayer shawl to consider sending us a note that we can share during the service OR if you would like to speak during the service as a witness to what the prayer shawl meant to you or those who received it, we welcome you! If you are willing to give witness during the service, please contact Bobbi at the church office ( ) by Wednesday, April 30 th. We are grateful for everyone s support of this powerful Ministry and wish to dedicate this anniversary celebration to all of you! 7
