1 United Methodist Church of Antioch First Sunday in Lent March 10, :00 and 10:30 am GATHERING The mission of the United Methodist Church of Antioch is to grow in faith; to worship God following the teachings of Jesus Christ, and to be instruments of God s love through the Holy Spirit as we reach out to our community and the world. PRELUDE ANNOUNCEMENTS/MISSION STATEMENT *SONG OF GATHERING #395 Take Time to Be Holy *WE ARE WELCOMED TO WORSHIP L: We gather remembering that we are called to be the people of God, servants of Christ in the world. P: We gather to receive again the life that is given us, to be renewed and strengthened to fulfill our task. L: We gather, quite simply, because Jesus is Lord. P: We celebrate that; we wrestle with that; we take our stand on that being true. L: We have come together: Let us worship God. *WE SHARE IN PRAYER Holy Lord, as we enter this Lenten season, we are reminded of our weakness and our need for your strength. We ask your forgiveness when we succumb to the temptations of this world, when we tread paths that are contrary to your will. We ask your forgiveness when we fail to look beyond our own desires to see another s need. We ask for your presence in our wilderness wanderings. May your hand guide us from the arid land of sin into a land flowing with milk and honey a land made rich and abundant by your saving love. We ask it in the name of Christ Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God both now and forever and who taught us to pray: THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. CHILDREN S TIME

If you wish to learn more about our congregation, please speak with the pastor, ushers or greeters. Nursery care is available at the 10/10:30 service. Our nursery follows the Safe Sanctuary guidelines, copies of which are available in Wesley Hall or in the nursery. Bible Studies meet weekly at church: Sundays at 9:15am, Mondays, 1:30pm & Wednesdays at 10am. ~The Gathered Community~ **Please turn off all electronic devices before the start of Worship.** ******************* BREAKFAST REQUEST: Please sign up to donate a breakfast casserole for the UMM's District Lenten Breakfast on March 23rd. Casseroles can be egg, potatoes, French toast or whatever recipe they have for a breakfast casserole. We will also need several pots of oat meal, mixed fruit and several coffee cakes. SIGN UP SHEETS ARE ON TABLE IN WESLEY HALL. Thank you! CHRISTIAN WELLNESS MINISTRY You have until Monday (3/11) to register for the," Legal Aspects of Aging", talk being held at St Stephen on 3/12 at 2pm. It's not too late to start "Walking to Jerusalem"! We need your help to meet the goal of walking 6,000 miles by Easter Sunday. CWM is proud to announce a new pamphlet as well as a CWM web page! Please take a pamphlet and visit our new web page! The web page is currently on the St Stephen website but will be available soon on all 3 church websites. ORGAN RECITAL HELPERS NEEDED: to help with serving and clean-up after refreshments for March and April. Call Eunice DRIVERS NEEDED: For Meals On Wheels one day a month. If you can help, call Eunice Rawson BUTTER BRAIDS ARE BACK!! Please consider ordering one of these tasty treats to support the preschool. The order form will be on the table in Wesley Hall. Please make checks payable to U.M.C.A. and write Butter Braids in the memo. The checks can be dropped in the slot in the office door. Orders are due TODAY. Payment is due at the time of order. You can pick up your order up on Thursday March 21 at 2:00-after that day they will be placed in freezer with your name on it. Thank you for supporting the preschool.

4 TOY DRIVE FOR CHILDREN S HOSPITAL- Ellie Savers is running a toy drive to benefit Lurie Children s Hospital. You may remember 2 years ago she was very sick and Lurie saved her life. She is now using her title of Little Miss Antioch to help other children who are currently sick. If you would like to contribute, please place new unwrapped toys, books, or coloring activities in the box in Wesley Hall by Sunday, March 24th.
