First Reading: Genesis 2:18-24 God created many different animals in an attempt to make a suitable partner for the first man. Then he took a rib from the man as he slept and built it up into a woman. At last God had created someone who equaled the man, as she was bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh and they proved to be suitable partners for each other. Second Reading: Hebrews 2:9-11 This passage describes how Jesus will become perfect through his suffering. It also reminds us that Jesus Father is our Father as well, making him unashamed to call us his brothers and sisters. Gospel: Mark 10:2-16 The people began to ask Jesus if it was acceptable for a man to divorce his wife. Jesus tells them that two people who have been joined together by God should not be separated. People began bringing their children to Jesus, but the disciples tried to send them away. Jesus grew angry and told his disciples to allow the children to come to him Bon Venture Services, Inc. 6 St. Timothy Outreach Craft Group is in need of small travel toiletries to fill cosmetic bags to send to Wyoming County, WV. Last year we were able to fill over 400 bags with your generous donations. At There's great resources for every stage of the faith journey Paul Stefan Home The weekend of the 10th and the 11th of October is the St. Timothy's Baby Bottle Drive for the Paul Stefan Foundation. St. Timothy's has supported this pro-life/ women's ministry since it's beginning. The PSF was founded in 2006 and was named in honor of Baby Paul Stefan James who was named in honor of Father Stefan. This Pro-life ministry has now expanded and will be opening a new Regional Maternity and Educational Center to house up to 30 women and babies at one time. Take one bottle or envelope for each member of your family after Mass and please be as generous as you can. Bottles are due back the next week of the17th and 18th. Please pray for the success of the Paul Stefan Regional Center as it will be a safe haven for all women in the State of Virginia who seek an abortion because they have nowhere to live. This is the first of its kind in Virginia and we ask that you be part of a ministry where we all have "Stepped out of the Boat" as Father Stefan would say, and do the ridiculous to achieve the miraculous!! The St Vincent de Paul Society will be collecting "Coats for Kids" ages baby to teen. Collection will start September 12th at the Ministry Fair and last day for donations is October 13th. There will be a collection box at the back of the church for donations plus a box at the International Festival and Walk for the Poor. This humble request has been re-echoed many times during his papacy and during his recent visit to the USA. He is constantly teaching us that prayer even for the Pope is a practical and powerful way to make our lives better. It takes some effort and some time but the rewards are eternal and as close to a sure bet as you will ever get in this lifetime. Nearly every saint had a prayer life! Prayer is simple, free, and energizing and best of all you do not need to be holy to pray. In fact God wants saints as well as sinners to pray. Prayer is in other words-your conversation with God- it is your personal way to touch your inner heart and share your thoughts, fears, challenges, faults, and all of your human-ness with God.
