2 MESSAGE FROM YOUTH CHAPLAIN Dearly Beloved in Christ, Our VBS for the year went well by the immense grace of God. The theme for this year s VBS was 'Transformers' based on Rom. 12:2. The world that we live in today is one that lures us to the ways to the world. If we don t conform to these ways, we are termed as archaic, traditional and so on. The second book of the Hebrew Bible is titled Exodus. It is derived from two Greek words Ex which means 'out of' and odos which means 'way.' In short, Exodus means out of the way. The biblical writers when compiling the books named that book, since they wanted to proclaim, how with God s intervention, the Israelites were able to come out of the way of the powerful Egyptians or in other words have an alternate way. As true followers of Christ when we live in this world, we should be able to find an alternate way which is different from the worldly ways - as individuals and families and ultimately as a church. Christ s mission in the world was also one that defiled the existing powers and one that had an alternate way to the existing religious and societal legislations. Having an alternate way or being transformed takes a lot of courage and this is the challenge God has placed in front of us. I wish and pray that we are called to be Transformers in all that we do. I hope our children had a fruitful time of learning and joy at the VBS. The call to be Transformers isn t just for children, but is an invitation to all of us. I would also want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the students who passed their 10th and 12th standard exams with flying colours. My appreciation goes out to all parents, teachers and friends who stood by you to achieve these results. May God continue to bless you all. Always remember that what you just conquered is never the end but is the beginning of many more to come. With God on your side, I am sure that you will be able to conquer any hurdles that may come your way. This is also a time of vacations. Travel has been a way of life. Vacation helps us to connect with the places where we are rooted. Make sure that children are exposed to the ground realities during the journeys. It is also good if you are able to visit mission centres and charitable institutions so that you can also be a part of ministry. We are migrants therefore a called out community in the diasporic context where God s people meet Jesus in Word and sacrament and come in touch with the source of the Church s life. Siju C. Philip and Rev. Joe Mathew. During the meeting Achens stressed on the fact of why we are chosen to serve in a large parish as ours and our role and responsibilities towards to the larger worshipping community. Joe Achen stressed on the welfare programmes undertaken by our parish and to acquaint new members of the programmes of our church. It was a blessed time of togetherness and knowing each other.
