6 Achen s Message Dearly Beloved in Christ A Prophetic voice of Justice and the stream of God s love Rt. Rev Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Suffragon Metropolitan Rt. Rev Geevarghese mar Athanasius was Born on 26 th April 1944 as the son of Late Sri. C.I. Idicula and Late Smt. Achiyamma of Nedumpram Christos Parish. Mr. C.I. George completed High School education from TMT High School Neerattupuram. After obtaining BSc Degree from College, Thiruvalla he was called upon to serve the Church as a priest and got BD Degree from Leonard Theological College, Jabalpur in He was ordained on He served thereafter Palakkad, Mumbai, Toronto, Venmoney, Kottayam, Madras, Edayaranmula, and various other Parishes illustriously. While in Canada he did higher studies in Wycliffe College, Toronto ( ). He was consecrated as Episcopa with the name Geevarghese Mar Athanasius on 9 th December 1989 at Thiruvalla SCS ground. He was assigned to be the head of Mumbai Delhi Diocese. He served as head of Kottayam-Kochi Diocese from 1993 to 2001 and from 2001 October continues to head Ranni Nilackal Diocese. In 2015 October 2nd, Tirumeni was installed as the Suffragan Metropolitan of the Church. Thirumeni s discourses were the outcome of mature thought, depth of knowledge and wide reading. He was a good friend of Theological books and literary books and periodicals. All his speeches were thought provoking and appealing to all. As a refuge to everyone in distress and sorrow he had a special ability to win the heart of all. He was always able to pass on to his audience the depth of Biblical thoughts in a natural and poetical style. He was blessed with a rare ability to lead the audience to the shores of total submission lifting them on wings of fancy with the help of poetic description. His mature and creative leadership provided new avenues as for service as a shepherd. Thirumeni was presently serving as the Diocesan Bishop of the Ranni-Nilackal Diocese. Thirumeni is fondly remembered for His shepherding ministry, His soul stirring oration marked with Christian maturity, deep thought & devotion, and a vast knowledge of the word of God, along with matters relating to humanity. Thirumeni was keen in keeping relationships systematically and was instrumental in materializing many humanitarian projects for the upliftment of the poor and needy, and enabling humanity to experience our Lord Jesus Christ. The unexpected passing away of Suffragan Metropolitan Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Suffragan Metropolitan Thirumeni at P.V.S. Memorial Hospital, Ernakulam at 4:40 AM on As Thirumeni completes His earthly sojourn, the Holy Church praises Her Lord for the outstanding life, ministry, and witness of Thirumeni.
