1 MARTHOMA CHURCH OF SAN FRANCISCO NEWSLETTER APRIL 2018 A new month is about to blossom along with the Risen Christ. Happy Easter to the members of the Mar Thoma Church Of San Francisco. Go on an egg hunt, paint the eggs, enjoy the long weekend, But always remember God s greatest act of love, and let the reality of Christ s death and resurrection be the center of your celebration. We can best understand Easter by seeing what God has to say about it. After all, it was His greatest act of love that prompts this annual celebration: The death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. We Christians act and live as though Christ were dead. Jesus Christ is alive. This risen Christ, taken by faith in all of His power and glory, is great enough and big enough to cope with every problem FROM THE VICAR the human race faces at this hour. Easter celebrates new life emerging from despair, loss, hopelessness, and tragedy. Spring brings along new life emerging from winter. Let us prepare to experience the new renewal in Our Lives this Month. When Christ was upon earth He went to the Temple, and He did not stay there. He went out into the streets where the sick, the needy and the dying were. His love and compassion broke the bounds of class, race and creed: The common people heard Him gladly (Mark 12:37). Jesus Christ is alive. This risen Christ, taken by faith in all of His power and glory, is great enough and big enough to cope with every problem the human race faces at this hour. This the reason why we are coming together to share our time and resources for the COMMUNITY DAY OUT on April 21, with the Livermore District as a Community Service day. Jesus said: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed (Luke 4:18). I praise God for all those who have signed for the event and this venture would be a fellowship which brings us one step closer to the Community and to be a support in the needs of the people in the Community. Jesus Christ wants His presence to be understood, through our Lives. He has given each one of us a purpose to be what we are in the places that He has placed us. So let us use this Month springing up with the enthusiasm that Christ Jesus still Lives Through each of us and spread the Love of The cross through endeavors of Hope and Support in every possible manner for the days to come. In the upper room Jesus told His disciples, These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full (John 15:11). 3 Dearly beloved in Christ, Greetings to you all in the name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. The message of the Risen Christ is one of hope, courage and peace. May we all be reminded that the grace we receive from Him is not for us alone, but a gift we must share with others. Happy Easter!! FROM THE SECRETARY We had a blessed Lenten season. I would like to thank all the organizations and volunteers who helped throughout the Lenten season in arranging services, prayer meetings and refreshments. Also, I take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who took time out of their busy schedule to attend the worship services in the passion Week. The 2018 executive committee dedication service was held on March 11. The executive committee convened on March 18 and discussed schedules and programs for this year, and selected sub-committee conveners. We have an exciting year ahead with various planned activities and events, and I invite all of you to participate, and enroll in various sub-committees. Your talents, time, creativity, and above all your prayers and support is vital in making our programs a success. Upcoming events: Livermore Community Service Day is April 21 and our Church will be volunteering to serve the Livermore neighborhood. Our church will host Ecumenical event of Kerala Christian Churches in Bay Area on May 20. This is the first time we are hosting this event, and members from 7 parishes will be participating.
